Our favorite Holocaust survivor Fred Behrend turns 100 on Nov. 3. Yep, 💯!! To mark the occasion, Evelyn and Andy Behrend and Larry Hanover will be in Ludenscheid, Germany, for a powerful event. His hometown will honor him and his parents by laying Stolpersteine — brass markers commemorating Holocaust victims’ last voluntary address. Fred will participate via Zoom from NJ.
Please join us at Congregation Beth El Voorhees, NJ, on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. as we celebrate Fred by showing a video of the landmark ceremony and more from the trip, including walking the streets of Cologne where Fred saw synagogues in flames during Kristallnacht, and the Ludenscheid jail where his father was imprisoned before being sent to a concentration camp.
See the flyer for how to RSVP.
