ACTION ALERT!

Tell Congress: Take Action to Protect the Jewish Community Today
Antisemitism is rising, and Jewish communities across the country continue to face serious security threats. Congress now has an opportunity to act.

The bipartisan Jewish American Security Act (S. 4576) would strengthen protections for Jewish communities through increased security funding, stronger student protections, and new tools to combat antisemitism.

This is a once-in-a-generation moment. Congress must act now. Take one minute to fill in your information below and urge your elected officials to cosponsor this critical legislation today.

This morning, the JCRC hosted our inaugural Religious Leaders Coalition Leadership Breakfast, launching a meaningful new initiative that highlights the individuals and organizations working to bring communities together. The event celebrated the outstanding efforts of those fostering interfaith and intergroup collaboration across our region.

This year’s award recipients were:
• Dana Redd, President and CEO of Camden Community Partnership, received the Courageous Leadership Award
• Pastor Ray Barnard of Impact Live Church was presented with the Bridge Builder Award
• Little Hands Little Feet from St. Andrews United Methodist Church of Cherry Hill was honored with the Community Impact Award

Attendees also heard from a powerful panel discussion, “The Power of Interfaith Collaboration,” featuring distinguished faith leaders: Father Joseph Wallace, Rabbi Lewis Eron, and Dr. Waleed Naseem. Together, they reflected on the common bonds that unite our faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds, and the importance of building a more understanding and respectful community and world.

We extend our sincere thanks to our event co-chairs, Thomas Santo and Harriet Schulman, as well as JCRC Interfaith and Intergroup Committee Co-Chairs, David Bercovitch and Tracy Ann Bancroft, for their leadership.

We are also deeply grateful to our sponsors, Jewish Community Foundation, Inc. (JCF) of Southern New Jersey, Rutgers University—Camden Division of Impact and Community Engagement, Fox Rothschild, Bercovitch Law Offices, P.C., and to our generous hosts at The Legacy Club.

Yesterday, the Jewish Community Relations Council of Southern New Jersey and the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jerseyhosted a vibrant, community-wide celebration filled with Jewish pride of Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) and America’s 250th birthday at JAHM Fest! The event brought together hundreds of community members of all ages for an afternoon filled with Jewish pride. Attendees explored a lively and colorful marketplace featuring local artists and enjoyed fantastic live music from local Jewish bands, along with a variety of delicious offerings from food trucks.

Families took part in fun, engaging activities for kids, making it a truly inclusive experience for everyone. We were also honored to welcome local elected officials, providing an opportunity to showcase the strength of our Jewish community and express appreciation for their ongoing support. A special highlight of the day was recognizing the winners of our JAHM Fest Essay Contest. These talented students were celebrated for their thoughtful essays exploring the impact of notable Jewish Americans. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so memorable.

As part of Jewish American Heritage Month and in celebration of America’s 250th birthday, this weekend has been designated as Shabbat 250, a Shabbat of Unity and Oneness. From sundown on May 15 through May 16, Jews across the country will gather with friends, family, and community to observe Shabbat together. This special Shabbat invites us to come together, strengthen our sense of community, and celebrate our shared traditions.

Here is how you and your family can mark this special Shabbat: light Shabbat candles, share a Shabbat dinner, attend synagogue services, take a reflective walk, step away from technology, and be present.

We look forward to celebrating Jewish American Heritage Month together at JAHM Fest this Sunday!

This week, we joined forces with Eagles' Wings to bring more than 500 rabbis, pastors, and other faith leaders to Washington, DC, for Israel Advocacy Day. Paired Jewish-Christian delegations held 115 congressional meetings to express support for the Jewish State and collaborate to combat antisemitism.

At the evening gala, which featured remarks from Eric Fingerhut and Dr. Susan Michael of International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) noted, “Support for Israel is not just a Jewish issue. It is important to Christians and to tens of millions of Americans.”
