COMING IN JULY! For the month of July during our SPLASH worship time on Sunday mornings at 10:30, we will be having mini sports camps! Current kindergarten through 5th graders will have the opportunity to participate in an hour-long program that includes a Bible lesson, skills training and games, small group discussion, and a snack!
It will be a fun way for students to connect, learn, and grow, and we’re really excited! 🎉🏆

Volunteers will be needed each week to assist with roles from coaching to snack prep, check-in, and small group leaders!
If you can volunteer to help (anywhere from one Sunday to all four), complete the volunteer sign-up below! We’d love to have you on the team to work together to make disciples and create a fun, engaging experience for these sweet kids! ⬇️

This Memorial Day we remember with solemn gratitude the men and women who gave their lives in the service of others. Yesterday at the end of our services we had the opportunity to hear personal stories of brave men and women who laid down their lives for others.
It was a powerful and challenging reminder that as Christ-followers we are called to serve, love, and sacrifice as we press on to know Christ and make Him known. 🙏

Becoming a member at a local church is a meaningful step of mutual commitment and a beautiful way to signify your dedication to Christ and His people! Church membership also places you under the care and guidance of spiritual leaders - elders and pastors, who are charged with praying for, shepherding, and helping you grow in your discipleship to Christ. Membership helps you plug in to use your gifts to serve the congregation, and it provides a network of care in the joys and sorrows of life.

"Where" is an important word in the Bible-Matthew 18:20 points to the importance of gathering in Jesus's name, that is, for His glory and purposes- "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." Our Chapel family has been meditating on the birth of the church in Acts 2 where multiple venues are mentioned - "And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people..."

Our Chapel Gallery is currently hosting an amazing solo exhibition by Michael Lupino that stimulates us to meditate on where God-experiences happen, certainly in a church building, but also in lots of other places where we get together in His name.

Join us for a fun night together at the Norfolk Tides game on Saturday, June 13! VBCC families, friends, neighbors, and coworkers are all welcome to attend! ⚾️
We’ll meet at Harbor Park for the game, which starts at 6:30pm. There will even be fireworks after!

What a joy to celebrate our high school and college graduates yesterday! 🎉🎓
VBCC Youth helped lead worship services, seniors and their families had a fun lunch together, and evening youth group hosted “Senior Night” with an “ask-the-seniors” panel!

We thank God for each senior, and we are praying for them as they launch into their next adventure with Him!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well,” (Psalm 139:13-14).

Yesterday was a sweet time of thanking God for the gift of new life and for the gift of mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and spiritual mothers. It’s a blessing to be part of a community where we can bring our rejoicing and our grief, our longings and our gratitude to our Heavenly Father together, praising Him and crying out to Him as our Creator, Father, and God, who is both powerful and tender and who gathers us beneath his gentle wings like a mother bird shelters her young.

May we rest in that sheltering love of our Father this week, and with thankful hearts extend love and care to others!
