Turns out, sometimes the best river engineer is a beaver 🦫

Since 2019, researchers and wildlife officials in Utah have been relocating beavers from places where their dams cause conflicts with people to dry landscapes where their skills are desperately needed. Once there, the beavers get to work building dams that slow rivers, create ponds and wetlands and keep more water on the landscape. Researchers say these habitats can improve water quality and provide homes for fish and other wildlife.

And they’re already seeing some remarkable results. One female relocated in 2022 established a family in her new home and helped widen a stream. When researchers returned, they found a newly formed pond filled with native Yellowstone cutthroat trout. The program now relocates about 60 beavers a year — giving animals once considered “nuisances” a chance to become ecosystem engineers somewhere they’re needed.

🥣 Creamy Ranch Tortellini (Slow Cooker)
This is an easy, creamy, and comforting meal—perfect when you don’t feel like cooking 😮‍🔥

🛒 Ingredients
1 block (8 oz) cream cheese
1 packet dry ranch seasoning
2 cups beef broth
1 package refrigerated beef tortellini
1–2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 handful fresh spinach

👩‍🍳 Instructions
Add the cream cheese, ranch seasoning, and beef broth to your slow cooker.
Turn the slow cooker to HIGH and let it heat for about 1 hour, until the cream cheese becomes soft.
Whisk or stir everything together until it forms a smooth, creamy sauce.
Add the tortellini, cover, and cook for about 30 minutes, until the pasta is tender.
Add the fresh spinach and stir. Let it cook for 1–2 minutes until the spinach wilts.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Turn off the heat or switch to warm and let the cheese melt.
Serve hot and enjoy.

🥧 Shortcut Chicken Pot Pie Bake
This is an easy comfort meal with a creamy chicken filling and golden, fluffy biscuits on top ✨

🛒 Ingredients
3 cups cooked chicken (shredded)
1 bag (16 oz) frozen mixed vegetables
1 can (10 oz) cream of chicken soup
½ cup whole milk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 can (16 oz) refrigerated flaky biscuits
Optional: melted butter (for brushing on top)

👩‍🍳 Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
In a large bowl, mix together the chicken, frozen vegetables, cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Open the biscuit can and place the biscuits on top of the mixture, leaving a little space between each one.
(Optional) Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter for extra flavor.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
