What is this conference about?
As born-again Christians our desire and goal in this life is to be like Jesus. Christlikeness comes through the process of “sanctification,” and we learn in Dunamis 1 that sanctification is one of the four works of the Holy Spirit. Some of us taking this PRMI Ignite/Advanced Ministry course were saved from a life of sin, perhaps literally even rescued. Others have grown into our faith perhaps from childhood and have lived a good moral life. But Scripture tells us we are all sinners and fall short of God’s glory thus our rightful response to Jesus’s salvation is to serve him with thankful hearts. No longer slaves to sin, we become servants of Christ, seeking to please Jesus by living righteously and doing all the He commands us (Romans 6:16-23). This is good! But this course’s purpose is to introduce to you a dimension of Christlikeness that perhaps you have only begun to experience.
If we are called to be Christ-like, would it not make sense then for us to seek the same kind of relationship with God the Father that Jesus did? To fix our eyes on, listen to, obey, even be completely dependent on the Father as Jesus was? If Jesus lived His life in a perfect love relationship as Son to His Father, might this be possible for us, to some degree? Though Jesus lived as Son AND served as a slave (John 13:1-5, Matthew 3:17), could this become our identity and experience, too? (Galatians 4:6-7). Perhaps your heart is yearning for something more.
“Encountering the Heart of the Father” seeks to not just teach what Scripture says about who God is as the first person of the Trinity, our true Father, but to give each of us opportunity to plumb the depths of our own hearts and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal our blindnesses and blockages, to sanctify us into Christ-likeness by the Holy Spirit “pouring the love of God into our hearts,” (Romans 5:5). God is inviting you to live in the reality of Him being your Real Father, loving you just as He did Jesus while on earth, (John 17:26). Indeed, we have the same Holy Spirit upon us and within us as Jesus did. So let’s begin a journey to receiving this love. A journey of opening our hearts, of healing, of forgiveness, of revelation. As Jesus forever lives and reigns in the loving embrace of His Father in Heaven (John 1:18), He is inviting you to join Him to in the belovedness of being a son or daughter.
