Today we talked about koilia—the innermost part of who we are: our desires, appetites, thoughts, and affections.
The place where we often try to satisfy our thirst with things that were never meant to sustain us.

Jesus’ invitation is simple: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.” (John 7:37)

Many of us get caught in cycles of chasing dopamine, comfort, approval, distraction, or escape. But freedom begins when we:
• Name the cycle and break the cycle
• Practice the presence of God
• Believe what God says is true about us

As Anna Lembke says, recovery begins when we stop feeding what masters us. As Paul writes, “I will not be mastered by anything.”

The good news? We are more broken than we realize often, yet more loved than we ever dared hope. Real transformation happens when we trade lesser loves for a greater love—Jesus.

Such a good word this past Sunday from Pastor Kimberlee. Behavior modification and following rules may change our outward appearance, but it will never free our souls. Jesus came to give us salvation. Soul level change that isn’t found by just following a set of rules, but by following the King of the Universe.

Pressure doesn’t create what’s inside you—it reveals it.

In a world where it’s easy to manage appearances, trials have a way of exposing what is truly in our hearts. When life squeezes us, what comes out isn’t random. It’s a reflection of what we’ve been rooted in all along.
In this powerful message, Xavier Tooley reminds us that God isn’t trying to break us through hardship—He’s refining us through it.

Just as silver is purified until it reflects the image of its maker, God uses pressure, testing, and trials to shape us into the image of Christ.

The temptation is always to escape the discomfort, numb the pain, or pray for the pressure to disappear. But sometimes God is saying, “Don’t rush out of this. Let it finish its work.”

Your trial may not be a punishment. It may be preparation.

Your pressure may not be proof that God has left you. It may be evidence that He’s still working in you.
Because God’s goal isn’t simply to make life easier—it’s to make our faith stronger, deeper, and more mature.

“Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” — James 1:2-3
