This Sunday in our Rediscovering Our Methodist Roots series, we explored the connection between personal and social holiness.

Personal holiness is about our individual relationship with God and our growth as followers of Jesus. But the personal is incomplete without the social. We aren’t created to do life alone, and we aren’t created to follow Jesus alone either.

Just as roots along a shoreline intertwine beneath the surface to hold trees firmly in place, our faith is strengthened through our connection to God and to one another. Personal holiness draws us closer to Christ. Social holiness sends us into the world to love our neighbors, seek justice, show mercy, and serve others in Christ’s name.

Worship, prayer, serving others, and spending time in scripture may seem like small practices, but over time they help anchor us in God’s grace.

As we continue this journey together, we invite you to spend a few minutes each day reading scripture and listening for God’s voice. Whether you follow these daily readings, revisit Sunday’s passage, or simply open your Bible and begin reading, trust that God is at work beneath the surface, nurturing roots that will sustain you through every season.

📖 Week 3 Daily Readings

Monday – Isaiah 1:17
Tuesday – Zechariah 7:9-10

Last Sunday, we continued our Rediscovering Our Methodist Roots series by exploring the gift of God’s grace through Romans 5:1-8 and the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard.

Our world often teaches that people get what they earn. God’s grace tells a different story.

We reflected on:
• Prevenient Grace that seeks us before we seek God
• Justifying Grace that welcomes us even while we are still sinners
• Sanctifying Grace that continues shaping us throughout our lives

Grace seeks us. Grace saves us. Grace continues transforming us into people who love more like Christ.

It was also a joy to welcome more than thirty guests from Mentor United Methodist Church in Ohio. Their youth group spent the night at The Gathering before heading to a week of mission work in Windsor, North Carolina. We are grateful for the opportunity to offer hospitality and pray God’s blessings on their service.

As we prepare for worship tomorrow, take time to reflect on today’s daily reading from our Roots series:

📖 Saturday: 1 Samuel 17:17-37

“The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” (1 Samuel 17:37)

David’s confidence wasn’t in his own strength. It was in God’s faithfulness.

Join us tomorrow at 10:00 AM as we continue our journey through Rediscovering Our Methodist Roots and explore how God calls us to live lives shaped by grace.

For forty days, the Israelites stood face to face with a giant and were filled with fear.

Sometimes life’s challenges can feel just as overwhelming. Yet grace reminds us that our confidence is not found in our own strength, but in God’s faithfulness.

📖 1 Samuel 17:1-16

When fear seems bigger than hope, remember that God is already at work, preparing the way forward.

Fear kept God’s people from trusting the promise that was right in front of them.

How often do we do the same?

God’s grace reminds us that we do not walk alone. Even when the path feels uncertain, God is faithful to lead, strengthen, and sustain us.

📖 Deuteronomy 1:26-46

“The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you.” (Deuteronomy 1:30)

Where is God inviting you to trust Him more deeply today?

Noah’s faithfulness did not earn God’s grace. It was a response to it.

When God called, Noah trusted. When God instructed, Noah obeyed. One step at a time, he followed God’s leading even when the future was uncertain.

📖 Genesis 6:9-22

“Noah did everything just as God commanded him.” (Genesis 6:22)

Grace gives us the courage to trust God with what we cannot yet see.

06/09/2026

Even in a world marked by brokenness, God’s grace continues to reach toward us.

Before the flood, before the ark, before the covenant, there was grace.

📖 Genesis 6:1-8

“But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” (Genesis 6:8)

God’s grace is not something we earn. It is a gift that meets us where we are and calls us toward something greater.
