A new women’s fellowship group is forming here at the FPC, and much like our Men’s Group, the goal is to provide fun, fellowship opportunities for women of all ages in the congregation. We are still working on a name, but in the meantime, join us for our first event: Women’s Bouquet Brunch at the home of Beth Holt. Saturday, September 26, from 10am-noon, all women of the church are invited to join us for brunch, fellowship, and everyone will get to arrange their own bouquet of flowers to take home. Bring your own small or medium sized vase and join us for a fun morning in a beautiful backyard on the water. You are welcome to bring a friend and join us for this time of fellowship and fun together! RSVP on Realm or call the church office to sign up.

We are starting a new sermon series this Sunday, and it should be a fun one, but it is a bit of a throwback! We are pairing the wisdom of Scripture with the wisdom of Mr. Rogers, and we are starting off this week with the song Mr Rogers began his show with over 900 hundred times across 30+ years, "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" Scripture loves to talk about loving our neighbor, and Mr Rogers loved to sing about it! Join us on Sunday as we consider the question, 'who is my neighbor?' And if you haven't listened to "Won't You Be My Neighbor" in a while, today is a good day for a refresher!

I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you, I’ve always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you. So let’s make the most of this beautiful day, Since we’re together we might as well say, Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won’t you be my neighbor? Won’t you please, Won’t y...

Join us in prayer for children, teachers, and parents who are moving through the first day of school, whether that is today, tomorrow, or in a few weeks!

Ever-present God, we ask for your guiding hand to be with all of the children beginning a new school year. Keep them safe and settle their nerves as they step onto new buses or into new classrooms. Bless them with a year of growth and learning filled with gifted teachers, thoughtful administrators, and great friends. As they move through the hallways, may they know always that You are with them and that You love them.

Bless all of the teachers who will give their energy and many talents to helping the children learn and grow. Give them patience, kindness, gentleness, and all other gifts of your Spirit as they stand in classrooms with your beloved children. Fill them with energy and enthusiasm for the great work that they do.

And finally, O God, be with parents all over our city who sent kids off to school and who anxiously await the kids climbing off the bus or into their car this afternoon. Help them to trust that You are with their children and that all will be well.

Thank you, O God, for creating us with minds ready to learn and hearts ready to serve. Pour out your blessing on another new school year. Amen.
