Today's Scripture
“Never turn your gaze from me, for I am your faithful God. I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation. I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10, TPT

Firmly in His Hands
It’s easy to feel as though our life is out of control at times. Everything is going wrong, one bad break or dead end after another. None of it makes sense. But we have to realize that it’s not happening by accident. The enemy didn’t somehow wrestle the controls of your life away from God, and now He’s standing by hoping things work out for you. God has you firmly in the palm of His hand. He’s promised that nothing can sn**ch you away. Him being for you is more than the world being against you.

The way to stay in faith is to recognize it’s all a part of God’s plan, which He promises to work out. Don’t waste your time trying to figure everything out and living frustrated over disappointments or what’s not happening. Try a new approach. It’s very freeing when you can say, “God, I don’t understand it, but I trust You. I know You’re working all things for my good, so I’m going to stay in peace, knowing that You will get me to where I’m supposed to be.”

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that what so often looks like trouble is really Your hand moving me toward Your plan. Thank You that I can rest assured that You are working behind the scenes and orchestrating my steps. Help me to walk by faith and stay in peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

BIBLE MEDITATION"
“Then it shall be, when he lies down, that you shall notice the place where he lies; and you shall go in, uncover his feet, and lie down; and he will tell you what you should do.”

RUTH 3:4

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
We should be careful not to misinterpret Ruth’s actions here. There was nothing improper, dirty, or impure. She was placing herself at Boaz’s feet under his protection. In Ruth 3:9 she requested that Boaz take her under his wing. She was saying, “I place myself under your protection; I am fully committed to you!”

Question: Can you have an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ if you’re not fully committed to Him? The answer is no. Is Christ Lord? I must ask myself every one of these questions. Have I placed myself at the feet of my Redeemer? The most sacred place on Earth is not in the pew, not at the altar, not behind the pulpit, not some temple somewhere. The most sacred place on Earth is at the feet of Jesus when you are fully committed to Him.

What does it mean to place yourself at the feet of Jesus?
How do you need to further commit yourself to Him today?

PRACTICE THIS
Take time in prayer today to posture yourself at the feet of Jesus. Consider changing your physical posture to display this act of humility by kneeling if you are able.

Today's Scripture
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.
Colossians 3:23, NKJV

It’s the Small Things
It’s not always the big things that are keeping us from God’s best; it’s the small things. If we aren’t showing respect and honoring our boss or coworker by doing a small thing that’s important to them, that small thing will keep you from your greatness. You can’t be harsh, contentious, and hard to get along with and reach your potential. Sometimes it involves things we don’t feel like doing, even something that doesn’t seem fair. At work, you’re not getting credit or someone is not treating you right. Why should you be kind to them, keep a good attitude, and go the extra mile? God is saying, “Will you do it as unto Me? Will you keep your mouth closed for Me? Will you be kind to that undeserving person for Me? Will you be your best at work for Me?” Do it as unto God. He’s the One who matters. Promotion doesn’t come from people; it comes from Him. When you do the right thing when it’s hard, when you consistently have a good attitude, you’re passing the test. God rewards faithful people who keep doing the right thing.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for calling me to be a person of excellence in everything I do, to go the second mile and always be my best. I want being my best to flow out of my heart of love for You. I believe that as I give it my all, I will see Your goodness and favor in my life in new ways. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

BIBLE MEDITATION"
Therefore wash yourself and anoint yourself, put on your best garment and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.”

RUTH 3:3

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
Christianity is not a code, it is not a cause, it is not a creed, it is not conduct, it is not church; it’s Christ. The mark of a Christian is a love for the Lord Jesus Christ. And the true desire of every child of God is to know Jesus Christ intimately. We want more than redemption; we want a relationship. We want more than the gifts; we want the Giver. We want Jesus Christ to be real to us.

You can know about somebody without knowing somebody. I want to know Jesus, not merely know about Him, don’t you? I want Jesus to be more real to me than any person I see face to face. The Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:10, “That I may know Him.” In today’s passage, Naomi instructed Ruth on how to know Boaz, and Ruth followed her direction. God has told us how to know His Son, Jesus, through His Word. Will we follow?

How would you describe what it means to know Jesus? What do you base this on?
How might you seek to know Jesus more today?

PRACTICE THIS
Commit today to read God’s Word faithfully so that you may know Him better.

Today's Scripture
Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph’s character.
Psalm 105:19, NLT

A Time of Testing
As a teenager, God gave Joseph a dream that he would be in leadership and see great favor and influence. He was excited. He knew big things were in his future, and he shared it with his parents and brothers. It’s significant that after God gave him that dream, He said, “I’m going to test your character to see if you can handle it. Will you be good to people who are not good to you? I’m going to test your endurance. Will you give up if it doesn’t happen fast enough? I’m going to test your integrity. Will you do the right thing when no one is watching? I’m going to test your attitude. Will you get sour when things don’t go your way?” What followed was thirteen years of testing through betrayals, injustice, and imprisonment before the dream came to pass.

We love when God gives us a dream, we know something big is in our future, but we have to realize along with the dream come tests. How we respond will determine whether that dream comes to pass.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for loving me so much that You work to refine my character and bring me up higher. Thank You for the training and preparation process that You are taking me through even now. I believe that I will pass the tests and get to where You are taking me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

BIBLE MEDITATION
“So Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, ‘Please let me go to the field, and glean heads of grain after him in whose sight I may find favor.’ And she said to her, ‘Go, my daughter.’”

RUTH 2:2

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
Ruth and Naomi were penniless, and by this time Naomi, who had turned to bitterness, couldn’t go into the fields. She was too old for that. So, Ruth said, “Well, I’m going into the fields. Maybe I can find some grace here.”

But I want you to see the hand of God in all of this. Number one, when did they get back to the land? Just in time for the barley harvest. This was not by accident. Then she went into the fields to glean, and whose field did she go into? There were no signs there that said this field belongs to this family or that family, no fences of demarcation. She simply went into a field, and it was the field of Boaz, her near kinsman. You can see the hidden hand of God.

Then when she’s there in the field of Boaz, who happens to come to the field at just that moment? Boaz himself. Boaz sees Ruth out there, and he says, “Who is that?” Ruth had gone through so much. She was broken and bankrupt, she was bruised and beaten, she was cursed and crushed. Did God do all of that out of cruelety? No, as you see the bigger picture, you see that God had a sovereign plan in it all.

When was a time God used difficult circumstances in your life for greater good?
How does this change your perspective on difficult situations as you look toward the future?

PRACTICE THIS
Journal about a time God used hard circumstances in your life for good.

Today's Scripture
There he built another altar and dedicated it to the LORD, and he worshiped the LORD.
Genesis 12:8, NLT

Do It in Advance
In Genesis 12, God told Abraham that he was going to become the father of many nations, that his descendants would own all the land, that he was going to be blessed and become a great blessing. When Abraham heard this incredible promise, he built an altar and worshiped the Lord. What’s interesting is that the promise hadn’t come to pass. He wasn’t a father, and his wife, Sarah, was barren. He didn’t own any land. Yet he built an altar simply to thank God for what He promised.

This is showing us a principle. Don’t wait for the promise to come to pass. Thank God in advance for what He said He would do for you. “God, You said my children will be mighty in the land.” Your child might be running with the wrong crowd, but build your altar now. Thank God before you see the promise. That’s what faith is all about. When God sees your altar, when He hears you thanking Him, praising Him, declaring His goodness, that’s when doors will open, healing will come, favor is released.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that my faith and trust are anchored to You and the promises in Your Word. Thank You that I don’t have to be moved by the tests and troubles I face because I am fully persuaded You will do what You promised. I declare that my hope is in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
