Eph. 6:4 – and ye fathers, provoke not your
children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and
admonition of the Lord. (KJV) *As parents this is our
mandate. The body shares in this too, if we are parents, it
applies directly. However, even if we aren’t we come
alongside the parents to encourage them and to pray this
for them. “What the church needs is good families and
what families need is a good church”

Between chapters six and seven there is an almost sixty year gap, Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Haggai, and Zechariah, King Cyrus, King Darius, King Xerxes from which we get the story Esther from, are gone, and enter his son King Artaxerxes, as well as Ezra. For the first time in the book, we see the name Ezra introduced into the story, as the men who led Judah to begin the work, persevere through the attacks, complete what God commanded them to do, which is rebuild the temple, are gone.

The Apostle John has been given four messages to share with four churches > 1.
Ephesus was considered a loveless church, 2. Smyrna the suffering church, 3.
Pergamos the compromising church, 4. Thyatira the corrupt church. Now we
come to a fifth message given to the church of Sardis located about thirty miles
from Thyatira, it was a military city, it was an important commercial city to the
Roman Empire because it lay at the junction of five main roads, making it a
center for trade.
