Every Mother, daughter and woman deserves to feel safe and loved.
Would you recognize abuse if there were no bruises?”
YOU CAN’T ALWAYS SEE THE DANGER.
Domestic violence doesn’t always look like a bruise.
Trafficking doesn’t always look like someone being forced into a vehicle.
Sexual abuse doesn’t always happen in a dark alley.
Sometimes danger looks like control.
Isolation.
Manipulation.
Fear.
A relationship that slowly changes.
A friend who suddenly disappears.
Someone monitoring your phone.
A person who makes you feel like you can’t say no.
Shelter in Place is an immersive community experience created to help women recognize the signs, trust their instincts, understand available resources, and know what to do when something doesn’t feel right.
THIS IS NOT JUST AN EVENT.
It’s an experience.
Instead of simply listening to statistics and information, participants will be invited to see, hear, discuss, question and respond to real-life situations through interactive activities and guided conversations.
You’ll have opportunities to:
👀 RECOGNIZE
Learn how abuse, trafficking and sexual violence can present before physical violence occurs.
🧠 UNDERSTAND
Explore the warning signs of manipulation, coercion, control, grooming and isolation.
🗣️ RESPOND
Practice what you can say and do when you recognize a potentially unsafe situation.
🛡️ PREPARE
Learn practical safety-planning concepts and discover community resources.
🤝 CONNECT
Meet organizations and advocates working to protect and empower women in the community.
❤️ EMPOWER
Leave with greater awareness, confidence and the knowledge that asking for help is not weakness.
WHY YOU SHOULD BE IN THE ROOM
You may attend because you have experienced something personally.
You may come because you are concerned about a daughter, sister, mother, friend or coworker.
You may be a community leader who wants to know how to recognize warning signs.
Or you may simply believe that every woman deserves to feel safe, informed and empowered.
You don’t have to identify as a survivor to belong in this conversation.
Bring your:
Mother.
Daughter.
Sister.
Friend.
Coworker.

Because the woman who needs this information may not know she needs it—yet.
