When was the last time you checked in on the men in your life, not just to ask how they're doing, but how they're really doing?

June is Men's Health Month, a reminder that many men put their health on the back burner. Whether it's skipping annual checkups, ignoring symptoms, or avoiding difficult conversations about mental health, the consequences can be significant.

The good news? Small actions can make a big difference.

Faith Community Nurses can help create a culture where health conversations are welcomed, preventive care is encouraged, and men feel supported in taking steps toward better health.

To help congregations and communities get started, the Indiana Center for Parish Nursing has developed a Men's Health Toolkit with practical resources, education materials, and ideas for outreach and engagement.

This June, let's encourage the men in our families, congregations, and communities to make their health a priority.

The Power of Nurses 💙
Nurses bring strength, compassion, wisdom, and hope to every space they enter. We advocate, comfort, heal, and care for others during life’s most vulnerable moments.
The power of nursing is not only in what we do but in how we make people feel seen, safe, and cared for.
Happy Nurses Week to all who serve with skill, courage, and heart nurses

Most people won’t tell you what they’re really carrying.

They’ll say, “I’m just tired.”
Or “Things have been stressful.”
Or “I’m fine.”

But underneath?
Questions about meaning. Loneliness. Loss. A longing for peace.

What if the most powerful thing you could offer isn’t advice… but attention?

In this month’s Everyday FCN, ICPN explores what it means to “listen beneath the words”—and how ordinary conversations can become moments of real connection when we slow down and truly hear what’s being said.

You don’t need special training to do this. Just a willingness to notice, to pause, and to care.

Because sometimes, being heard is where healing begins.

Save the date: April 16th from 1-3pm. Join ICPN as we partner with the Franciscan Health FCN Program to offer virtual QPR training. QPR is a su***de prevention intervention that equips individuals with the skills to identify warning signs of su***de, engage with someone in crisis, and connect them to professional help. It is often described as the mental health equivalent of CPR, empowering everyday people to act in emergencies involving suicidal behavior. The program is designed for anyone, not just mental health professionals, including teachers, parents, coworkers, clergy, law enforcement, and community volunteers. Register now to guarantee your spot!
