Jesus said, “And if your brother sins, go and reprove him in private.”

The passage from the Lectionary for 9/6/26, Matthew 18:15-20 is titled by some as dealing with “church discipline”. However, in such matters restoration not revenge is the desired outcome. This passage is one of those difficult teachings of Jesus. If you are one that has been abused by misuse of “church discipline”, may you be restored to joy in Jesus Christ as you worship with us.

The desperate mother in the Matthew passage teaches the hearer a great way to pray –“Lord, help me!” May you be challenged and encouraged to pray honestly, humbly, simply – “Lord, help me!”

Jesus “saw . . .and felt compassion for them. . .”

Jesus took five loaves of bread and two fish, blessed them and fed the multitudes.
Never hold on to that which cannot be blessed by God to multiply because you will not give it over to His use. Whatever we have in our hand in our possession, when released to God to use as He leads, He can multiply it to meet untold needs. When we hold on too tight, we become slaves to that which we do not share.
