The Bottom Line Episode 100
Do you ever run across certain Scriptures that the Lord just makes stand out?
In the book of Acts, we come across the story of Lydia in Acts 16. Scripture tells us that she was a God-fearing woman. She was devout, religious, moral, and seeking God. Yet something was still missing.
When Paul began to speak the Word of God and share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Scripture tells us that the Lord opened her heart to respond to what Paul was saying.
Lydia and her household believed.
This is such a powerful reminder that being a good person, a religious person, or even someone who fears God does not save us. Lydia was seeking, but she needed the truth of the Gospel and a Savior.
God opened her heart. It's as if He pulled back the veil from her eyes and her mind and said, “You are loved, but you are lost.”
So many of us can relate to Lydia. We may be searching. We may be trying to do all the right things. We may be moral, religious, and even believe in God—but Jesus is the only solution to our greatest problem: sin.
We don't just need religion. We need a relationship with Jesus Christ.
May we open our hearts to Him and respond to the truth of the Gospel.
Jesus is still opening hearts. The question is: Are we willing to respond?
