There was just no way! He could go no further! He was at the very end of himself. He couldn’t go on. He had done his best, but that wasn’t good enough. Could it be that he just misunderstood? Did he somehow just get it wrong? He felt like he was hemmed in on every side with an impossible barrier ahead and destruction pursuing him. Oh Lord it was then that You were there! The night comes and we are warmed by Your fiery presence. The sun rises and we are protected from its heat by the cloud of Your Your glory (Exodus 13:21-22)! We call to You, Lord, and You answer us! You make a way for us where there seems to be no way at all, because absolutely nothing is impossible with You! We pray today for those in urgent need of deliverance, Lord! “Answer us quickly!” is our cry. We need You now, Lord! Manifest Your glorious power. Yes, part the waters for us, oh Lord God, Who fights for us! We are delivered today by the power of Your Word! You speak; the way opens before us, and we are saved! Do it again! We need Your miraculous power, today. Part the waters Lord!

He wanted to get out of the mess he was in. He just couldn’t. He was fighting against something that was so much stronger than him. He struggled but it seemed like the harder he struggled the more difficult things were. Still he struggled until finally he realized that there was no way he could free himself and cried out. He needed help, and he needed it now. His situation was desperate! Oh Lord, You deliver us from evil! You are our Deliverer, the Deliverer who has come out of Zion to deliver us from evil (Romans 11:27). You became sin for us to deliver us from sin, through the cross, and then to send us the power of the Holy Spirit enabling us to live free form sin! Who will deliver us? Who will rescue us? You Lord, have provided for our deliverance (Romans 7:24-25)! “He trusted God," they said, "let Him deliver Him now," (Matthew 27:43)and that's exactly what You did, Lord! You are still delivering us, today! Let us walk in the power You have provided to give us daily victory! You have provided all the power we need to deliver us from evil!

He thought that he got along with most people pretty well. From his own point of view it really didn’t matter whether or not they fully agreed. He had learned to put his opinion aside for the moment and simply do what was necessary, but that didn’t mean that he couldn’t be hurt. He had also learned to hide his feelings and just go on. He really couldn’t put into words how much he hurt, or how deep the wound was. He would let it fester for years while he just thought about something else. Oh Lord, why is forgiveness so hard! We realize we need to let go, and we do for while. Then we pick up the offense again. Please send Your power, Lord, and heal our hurts. Help us to forgive as only You can. Send the power of the Holy Spirit to actively work in our lives. Demonstrate Your awesome love for us by letting us see the evidence of Your presence in our daily lives, forgiving us, and empowering us to forgive. We pray, "forgive us, Lord, as we forgive our debtors." Through forgiveness You have given us this awesome power to set others free and in the process to become more like You. Forgiving we are forgiven. The forgiven become forgivers, too! That is Your wonderful plan. Release the awesome power of Your Holy Spirit in our lives and in the lives of others, as You empower us to forgive.

He was wrong! It was hard to say, but it was true. He was caught right away. Sure, it was an accident, but he did it. Someone was hurt, and property was damaged. He needed to do what was right. Why was it such a hard thing to say? He had been asked as a child to repeat those words, “I’m sorry. I was wrong. Will you forgive me?” Then the one he had hurt spoke. The words washed over his very soul, “Yes, I forgive you.” He was forgiven! Oh Lord, we thank You for forgiveness. When we confess our sins, You forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)! So, we pray "forgive us our debts." Forgiven! Oh, Lord, how wonderful it is! If we focus on our debt, on our faults, we realize, how unfit we are for Your kingdom. When we focus on Your love and grace, knowing that there is forgiveness with You, we see Your powerful forgiveness! Your provision is greater than our debt. Your grace is greater than our sin. We come into Your presence, clean, purified, forgiven! Our debt is paid in full. You have heard and answered our prayer, "forgive us our debts." As we receive Your forgiveness, we prepare our hearts for all you desire to do in us. You forgive us, cleanse us, purify us, and make us ready to receive the fullness of Your Holy Spirit! Yes Lord, we are forgiven!

It was brand new! The paint job had a shine to it, and there wasn’t a speck of dust to tarnish its finish. He was so proud of the new car! It even smelled new! He so wanted to keep it that way. He even picked up everything when he got out, and for a while it stayed that way. Then one morning, as he was backing out, another car came from nowhere! No, it wasn’t as bad as it could have been, but now it was blemished! Oh Lord, we are so much the same when it comes to holiness. You continue to make us holy, Lord, sanctifying us through Your Word! Your Word cleanses us and we are made spotless! Not a speck tarnishes the shine of our soul. Your Word is full of this promise that we can be holy! Today we lay hold of this promise because You spoke it, and it is true! The promise is ours! It is a generational promise, a forever promise, because Your word is forever settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89). So with expectation we come to Your Word and pray these powerful promises back to You. Your promise is faithful and true, and our expectation will not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18)! You will fulfill every word of Your promise! Here in Your presence, Lord, this promise of holiness becomes reality. May we treat this holiness like a new car maintaining it everyday though Your Word and prayer. By Your Grace we can keep it brand new.

The aroma filled the room. She hadn’t planned on baking bread, but these were unusual times. There wasn’t any bread on the shelf at the grocery but there was flour! She had little ones, and they needed bread. Not only did it fill the house with this aroma but it tasted good too! It was a little more trouble, but wow, was it ever worth it! Oh Lord, "give us this day our daily bread." As we seek Your face today, we are learning to live in this day, not worrying about tomorrow, knowing that Your provision is always here for us! When the 120 waited in the upper room, they did not know exactly how long it would be, only that You had said that in not many days they would receive the promise of the Father. They waited with expectancy, one day at a time. Like the manna You sent in the wilderness, You continue to provide for us, "our daily bread," as we look forward to the fulfillment of Your promise. They looked forward to the promised land, while the 120 looked for the promise of the Father. Now we trust You daily for the strength of Your Holy Spirit that sustains us as we look forward to Your soon return! You empower us daily with Your Word, which You declare is Spirit and life! Yes Lord, fill us anew, everyday! Give us today our daily bread.

The smell of the coffee eventually brought a number of those asleep on benches to consciousness. They gathered around and drank the warm, dark liquid that was poured for them. Probably more out of politeness than anything, they listened to him sing an old song, “Try a Little Kindness,” along with a few others. Admittedly he wasn’t the best, but the coffee was pretty good. As he played he noticed something different about the white haired and bearded old man that drank his coffee. When he said he would be honored to go to church with him the old man responded! Afterward church he showered, and slept on the sofa bed. When morning came the two of them went to work. However when work was over no matter where he looked the old man could not be found! Apparently he wanted the change more than the white-headed old man, who was quite content with life the way things had been. Oh Lord, we are too content with life the way it has always been. You so want to change us and to fill us with the power of Your Holy Spirit. This morning, Lord, here in Your presence, help us to change! May we want the gift of Your Spirit, the Promise of Your Father, as much as You desire to give it! May we hunger and thirst for it! For they that hunger are filled (Matthew 5:6)! Fill us now, oh Lord! Change us today!
