Before Jesus speaks a single word or performs a single miracle, John wants to set the record straight about who Jesus is, where He came from, and what He came to do. This Sunday we will investigate John 1:1-18 to see what John (the author) wants us to know.

Join us tomorrow at 9:30 for worship service and a lesson from the life of Solomon.

Solomon did not practice what he preached. Like his father, he could have avoided much hardship if he had resisted temptation instead of giving in to it. This is at the heart of God’s warnings against being unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Small exceptions eventually cost Solomon far more than money could ever buy.

I Was Undone While Standing Before the Holy One
Staying on the sidelines is dangerous
Many people believed in Jesus, but stayed silent because they feared people more than God. At some point, we have to move our faith from private to public.

John 12:41-43
Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him. Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.

I Was Undone While Standing Before the Holy One
Experiencing the mercy of the Lord is personal

The "our" and "we" in Isaiah 53 includes us. The Servant suffers not because of what He had done, but because of what we have done.

Isaiah 53:3-6 ESV
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

I Was Undone While Standing Before the Holy One

Entering the presence of the Lord is serious.
Those who encountered the Lord left more aware of who God was and who they were NOT. Biblically speaking, we will not come before the King and tell Him what to do.

Isaiah 6:3-5 NKJV
And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.”
