Enough time.
Enough patience.
Enough grace.

Train your mind to observe God’s quiet provision instead of waiting around for a spectacular sign. There you will find reason.

Happy Juneteenth, beloved community.

For the enslaved population of Galveston, Texas, liberation finally came on June 19, 1865, when Union forces arrived to announce and enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, which had been signed in 1863. While tears of lament transformed into cries of joy, the moment was merely an initial step in a long, perilous struggle - a reminder of how much work lay ahead to dismantle modern forms of systemic enslavement that continue to permeate our nation.

We echo the cries of the Psalmist and those fighting for equality: "They have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory.” May we continue that initial step of freedom as we remain committed to the final victory of justice for our siblings.
