A Word From Our Pastor: Dr. Tim Martin
We are excited about the ministry here at Trough Creek Valley Community Church. My primary responsibility as Pastor is to preach the Word of God. (the whole counsel of God - Acts 20:17). The Word of God not only offers us instruction in what to believe, but also teaches us how to live. As we preach and teach the Word of Gold, we are proclaiming the way

of Salvation and the way of service to the Glory of God. Please come visit with us at Trough Creek Valley Community Church where the Lord has been blessing and we are seeing many positive and encouraging things happening.

Past: 1891, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, in extreme physical pain from his illnesses, preached what, unknown to him, proved to be his last sermon. His concluding words in the pulpit were, as usual, about his Lord: “The way to stronger faith usually lies along the rough pathway of sorrow,” The heaviest end of the cross lies ever on his shoulders. If he bids us carry a burden, he carries it also.

Present: Are you suffering today? Remember, that Jesus has the heavier end of the cross. Thank Him for his grace, and the promise that good will come from our sorrows, pain and grief..

Ponder Romans 8:28 “ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Past: July 3, 1960, Death of Alfred H. Ackley, a prolific writer of hymns, remembered primarily for the tune HE LIVES.

Present: Because He Lives, we can face tomorrow. Sing the Chorus: He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

Ponder: I John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Past: Have you ever felt lonely or afraid?

Present: Everyone feels lonely at times. Sometimes, however, loneliness can become so desperate that it causes fearfulness. God promises, however, that he always holds His people close to Him. Let us pray faithfully for those that we know who are experiencing fear and loneliness.

Ponder: Hebrew 13:5 “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Past: May 9, 1905, Birth of Merrill Dunlop, American sacred chorister and hymn writer. He directed the Chicago Gospel Tabernacle for many years, and is author of the hymn, "My Sins Are Blotted Out, I Know."

Present: Mr. Dunlop’s second stanza looks back at the “before” and rejoices in the “afterward” of God’s great salvation. “Once my heart was black, but now what joy, My sins are blotted out, I know! I have peace that nothing can destroy, My sins are blotted out, I know! Are you praising God today for your salvation?

Ponder: Isaiah 43:25 “ I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
