Randy Lewis Carter, 62, of Thaxton, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, October 19, 2026. He was born on June 30, 1964, a son of the late Henry Jackson Carter, Jr. and Iris Loretta Carter. Randy loved the Lord, his church, Cool Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church, his family, especially his grandbabies. He loved trout fishing and was an avid deer hunter. Randy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Carter; his daughter, Jennifer Overstreet (Michael); his son, Bossy Dwayne Carter and his fiancée, Christina Overstreet; his grandchildren, Ethan Brown, Anna Grace Overstreet, Bella Rose Overstreet and Faith Ileene Carter; three brothers, Otey Jackson Carter (Carolyn), Robert Burks Carter and Ronnie Wayne Carter (Tina); his sister, Loretta Lynn “Sissy” Carter (David); his mother-in-law, Helen Carter; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut St. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2026 at Cool Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Bob Manuel and Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in Peaks Church Community Cemetery. Special Thanks to DaVita Peaks of Otter Dialysis for all their help during his treatment.
