Jesus' use and fulfillment of Psalm 22 while he was on the cross can direct us on how to bolster our trust in God in the midst of anguish and suffering. Here were some questions to consider:

• How can the Psalms comfort you in times of distress and channel that anxiety onto God’s faithfulness?

• Faith is looking at God’s faithfulness in the past, trusting him in the present, with hope for the future. What do you make of that definition?

• How does the faithfulness of Jesus fill in the cracks for the times that we are faithless?

Yesterday we looked at the failed leadership of Saul, and how that set an expectation for the true leadership of Jesus Christ. Below were some questions we were invited to reflect on:

• What might genuine repentance of Saul have looked like in this encounter?

• How do you see Jesus filling a void created by Saul and other failed leaders from the Old Testament?

• Where do you see your life modeling the faithful leadership of Jesus? What parts of your life lag behind a bit?

• Are there other stories in the Old Testament where you see Jesus present, revealing himself?

• When appearing to Joshua, Jesus states that he is not on anyone’s side. How does that inform how we apply Jesus to causes we are passionate about?

• Which of those elements of Jesus’ character do you treasure the most and why?

Yesterday we looked at the annual celebration of the Day of Atonement, and how it foreshadows Christ removing both the penalty and presence of sin in our lives.

• What encouragement do you take from the goat that belonged to Yahweh symbolizing the penalty for sin being satisfied?

• What encouragement do you take from the goat for Az**el which symbolized the removal of sin from you?

• How will you take an active role in inviting and observing God to finish the work in you that he has begun?
