Every journey eventually brings us home — but we rarely come back the same.

Sometimes God uses the road, the people we meet, the questions we ask, and even the moments of discomfort to change the way we see our everyday life. Home may look familiar, but our hearts may be different.

In Jesus’ day, Jews and Samaritans were divided by history, religion, culture, and suspicion. Yet Jesus crosses that divide and begins a real conversation.

So here is a question worth carrying this week:

Who are the “Samaritans” in your life?

Not necessarily people you dislike, but people outside your normal circle. People from another generation, background, tradition, political view, or life experience. People you may have quietly placed into a category.

What changes when we become curious instead of defensive?

The Samaritan woman did not return to town with a theology degree, a polished speech, or every answer. She returned with a story.

“Come and see.”

That was enough.

Sometimes we think sharing faith means winning arguments or explaining everything perfectly. But this story reminds us that witnessing can be as simple as saying, “Here is what Jesus has done in my life. Come and see.”

One of the most striking parts of the story in John 4 is that Jesus does not begin by giving a sermon. He begins by asking for help.

“Give me a drink.”

Jesus is tired. Jesus is thirsty. Jesus is human. And in that vulnerable moment, a conversation begins that changes a woman, a village, and generations of readers.

Sometimes building a bridge starts not with having all the answers, but with being humble enough to ask for water.

Where might God be inviting you to practice vulnerability?

Sometimes the most meaningful part of a journey is not the destination, but the person we meet along the way. In John 4, Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well, crossing boundaries of culture, gender, religion, and reputation. He does not begin with judgment. He begins with a simple request: “Give me a drink.”

What if God is still placing people in our path—not as interruptions, but as invitations?

Salt may seem ordinary, but it changes everything it touches. It brings flavor, preserves, enhances, and reminds us that even small things can make a difference.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to be attentive people — people whose lives add something good, healing, and faithful to the world around us.
