We cry Hosanna because we need saving.
Yet in Sunday’s story, the deeper truth begins to emerge. Jesus does not come to save us from what we expect. He comes to free us from the fear that keeps us gripping, striving, and trying to hold everything together.

In “The Life You’re Trying to Save,” Pastor Jonathan invites us into the paradox at the heart of John 12:12–27.

The life we cling to is the very life that keeps us stuck.

The life we release is the one that finally bears fruit.

This is a story about letting go, trusting deeper, and discovering the kind of life that fear could never build.

When a group feels anxious or afraid, it often finds relief in blaming someone. In the trial of Jesus, the crowd stops seeing a person and starts seeing a problem, and suddenly scapegoating feels like justice. Yet the cross exposes this ancient human habit and holds up a mirror to our own lives, where we have both carried blame and placed it on others.

What if the resurrection is God’s declaration that the world will no longer be built on scapegoats?

Pastor Jonathan’s sermon was entitled, “The Dangeous Relief of Blame” and was based on John 19:4-7, 15-16.

What happens when truth stands quietly in front of us, but fear is shouting in our ears?

John 18 tells the story of a crowd choosing between Jesus and a rebel named Barabbas. It looks like an ancient political moment, but it feels strangely familiar.

The unsettling part of the story is not that they chose Barabbas. The unsettling part is how often we do the same thing.

Pastor Jonathan’s sermon is entitled, “The Choice That Still Haunts Us” and is based on John 18:28-40.
