Let's build a healthy church in every community of poverty so that communities can be transformed. Learn more: https://worldimpact.org

95% of church leaders are not trained for formal ministry – and most minister in urban poverty situations. We partner with churches, organizations, and denominations to ensure leaders are empowered to build healthy churches in every community of poverty. Our Core Ministry Programs:

Church-Based Seminary
The World Impact Urban Ministry Institute resources and trains urban church leaders. We provide affordable and accessible seminary-based training for men and women in communities of poverty everywhere. Urban Church Planting
Our Evangel School of Urban Church Planting trains Christian workers to plant healthy churches among the urban poor. This training is specifically designed to equip teams to reach under-resourced communities. Prison Ministry
Through our Onesimus Workshops, we train church leaders and workers to succeed in discipling those who have been incarcerated. We also offer Church-Based Seminary for those who are behind bars. Trauma Healing
World Impact’s Trauma Healing Program equips urban ministry workers and leaders to facilitate Bible-based healing groups. Participants can choose to be trained to lead their own healing groups, exponentially expanding the ministry. For more than 50 years, we’ve affirmed the call and vocation of local urban church pastors and ministry leaders who want to transform their cities through the Gospel. Are you ready to join us as we seek to build a healthy church in every community of poverty?

“Daddy, why are you home?”

It was a question Rev. Dr. Alvin Sanders never forgot.

Alvin had spent so much time serving his neighborhood that his toddler daughter was confused to find him home for dinner.

In this video, Alvin shares how that moment helped him recognize the personal cost of an unsustainable approach to ministry and why he wrote Redemptive Poverty Work: Expanded Edition.

Watch Alvin tell the story and discover a healthier way to do the work God has called you to do!

What an honor to sponsor the CCDA National Conference in Richmond! We were encouraged by the ministry leaders and organizations faithfully serving communities experiencing poverty through the transforming power of the gospel.

Dr. Alvin Sanders shared insights from the expanded edition of Redemptive Poverty Work during a pre-conference session and book signing. We’re grateful to be part of this community and already looking forward to next year!

Help make biblical training accessible to more leaders in the language they know best.

Around the world, pastors and ministry leaders are ready to learn, lead, and serve. Yet many still lack access to biblical training and resources in a language they understand.

World Impact has translation projects ready to move forward in Bengali, Hindi, and Odia, with leaders speaking 13 additional languages asking for resources.

Your support can help put practical, biblically based training into the hands of leaders who are already serving their churches and communities.

“We’re never commanded in Scripture to burn out for Jesus.”

After 10 years of pastoring in inner-city Cincinnati, Rev. Dr. Alvin Sanders and his wife began hearing the same comment again and again: “You look healthier.”

Only then did they recognize how burned out they had become.

That realization inspired Alvin to find a more sustainable way to serve and eventually write Redemptive Poverty Work: Expanded Edition.

Watch Alvin share why he wrote the book.

Translation helps equip local leaders to strengthen local churches.

Twenty-five Maasai men and women in rural Kenya recently celebrated a milestone: completing seminary-level biblical training in their own language.

At their graduation, there was singing, dancing, and joy as these leaders marked the completion of training that equipped them to serve their churches, share the gospel, and care for their communities.

Around the world, pastors and ministry leaders are eager to learn. Making biblical training available in the languages they know best helps them put that training into practice and share what they have learned with others.
