📖 CCA Sunday at Community Christian Church

What a blessing to gather together for worship and celebrate the ministry of Community Christian Academy (CCA)!

This Sunday, Pastor Zach Sammons challenged us from Matthew 28:18–20 with a powerful reminder of the Great Commission: We are called to MAKE DISCIPLES!

Jesus has all authority, He has given us a mission, and He has promised to be with us every step of the way.

We were also reminded that Christian education is about so much more than academics. At CCA, our desire is to partner with families, stand firmly on God’s Word, and point the next generation to Jesus Christ. ❤️

🍂 Harvest Festival – Saturday, October 31!
We’re looking forward to this opportunity to serve our community! We still need volunteers for the second shift (6:50–8:00 PM) and cleanup (8:00–9:00 PM). Harvest bag donations are needed by Wednesday, October 28, at 3:00 PM.

📌 There will be no regular Wednesday evening activities this week as we prepare for the festival.

Wednesday Evening Service Recap | October 21, 2026

Raising the Next Generation in Biblical Truth ❤️

This Wednesday evening, we had the opportunity to shine a spotlight on one of the most important ministries at Community Baptist Church—our Children’s Ministry!

Through a special conversation with Barb Russo, who has faithfully served as our Children’s Director for many years, we were reminded that children’s ministry is about so much more than activities, games, and entertainment. It’s about planting the seeds of God’s Word, sharing the Gospel, and preparing the next generation to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ.

Building a Strong Biblical Foundation 📖

Over the years, our Children’s Ministry has grown from an entertainment-focused approach into a ministry centered on meaningful biblical teaching and spiritual growth.

Our mission is simple but powerful: Teach children the truth of God’s Word, help them understand their need for a Savior, and equip them with a foundation of faith that will carry into adulthood.

Through age-appropriate teaching, our children are learning:

* Nursery – The Launching Pad: Even our youngest children are surrounded by loving volunteers who care for them and pray over their lives.
* Sunday School: From preschool through fifth grade, children learn foundational biblical truths through Sure Foundation and Generations of Grace, studying God’s Word in a structured and meaningful way.
* Wednesday Night Adventure Club: Children dive deeper into important doctrines, including the Trinity, sin, salvation, and God’s plan for the future.

One of the greatest reminders from the evening was that the church and parents must work together to raise children in the truth. What is taught at church should continue through conversations, prayer, and discipleship at home.

Celebrating Faithful Service ❤️

We are especially grateful for Barb Russo and her heart for the children and families of Community Baptist Church.

Her journey with our church began as a student in 1979, and through the years, God has continued to use her in remarkable ways. What began as a temporary six-month leadership assignment in 2011 became a lasting ministry of dedication, sacrifice, and love.

We also thank the more than 50 volunteers who faithfully serve across our children’s programs. Your willingness to invest in young lives is making an eternal difference!

🍂 Harvest Festival – An Opportunity to Share the Gospel!

Our upcoming Harvest Festival is more than a fun evening for families. It’s an opportunity to reach our community with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ!

Last year, approximately 500 people attended, and we are praying that God will once again use this event to reach hearts and homes.

The hayride is a particularly important part of the evening because it provides an opportunity for every guest to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel.

Here’s how you can help:

* Donate: Bring candy, M&Ms, Chex Mix, popcorn, or marshmallows to the collection bins in the foyer.
* Volunteer: See Barb Russo to sign up for a Harvest Festival shift or help with preparations.
* Pray: Ask God to prepare hearts to receive the Gospel and to bless every family who attends.

Wednesday Night Recap | October 14, 2026

Essentials of the Faith: Genuine Faith, Spiritual Growth & Biblical Love

What a wonderful opportunity to gather for fellowship, encouragement, and a deeper look into God’s Word!

This Wednesday evening, we continued our Essentials of the Faith series, exploring what it truly means to follow Christ. Our discussion challenged us to look beyond outward religious activity and examine the evidence of genuine faith in our everyday lives.

📖 Key Takeaways from Wednesday’s Study

🌿 1. Abiding in Christ — John 15

Jesus teaches that He is the true vine and His followers are the branches. Genuine faith produces spiritual fruit.

Christianity is not simply about attending church, improving our circumstances, or seeking temporary solutions to life’s problems. It is about having a real, transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.

⚔️ 2. Fighting the Good Fight Against Sin

The Christian life is not characterized by sinless perfection, but by an ongoing battle against the flesh.

A genuine believer does not become comfortable with sin. Instead, there is conviction, repentance, and a growing desire to live in obedience to God.

❤️ 3. Biblical Love Is More Than a Feeling — Romans 13

Love is not merely an emotion; it is demonstrated through our actions and obedience to God’s Word.

Romans 13 reminds us that love does no wrong to a neighbor and therefore fulfills the law.

Our feelings may change, but God’s standard for love remains the same. We are called to love others faithfully, even when our emotions do not naturally lead us there.

📖 4. Growing in Christ — Ephesians 4

Spiritual growth requires intentional, daily obedience. We discussed three important steps in sanctification:

* Put Off: Identify and turn away from sinful attitudes, habits, and behaviors.
* Renew Your Mind: Fill your heart and mind with Scripture, remembering and applying the truths of the Gospel.
* Put On: Replace sinful patterns with Christlike attitudes and righteous actions.

The goal is not simply to stop doing wrong, but to actively pursue what honors God.

💭 A Question for Personal Reflection

Are we simply going through the motions of Christianity, or is our relationship with Christ producing genuine spiritual fruit?

True faith changes how we think, how we love, how we respond to sin, and how we live.

May we continue growing in grace, standing firm in truth, and pursuing Christ with sincere hearts.

❤️ Love: A Debt We Can Never Fully Repay
Romans 13:7–10

What does it truly mean to follow Christ? It’s more than a profession of faith or a moment of baptism—it’s a daily life of trusting God, obeying His Word, and loving others.

In today’s message, we were reminded that our obedience demonstrates our trust in God, and that biblical love is more than just a feeling. It’s a choice to honor God, serve others, and pursue what is right—even when it’s difficult.

📖 “Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.” — Romans 13:8

As we go into this week, let’s ask ourselves:

❤️ Are we allowing God’s Word to guide our actions, even when it challenges us?

❤️ Are we loving others through our actions, not just our words?

❤️ Are we putting God’s will above our own desires?

The debt of love is one we never stop paying. May we be a church that reflects the love of Christ in our homes, our community, and everywhere God leads us!

📖 Wednesday Night 10.7.26 Recap | Community Baptist Church

🛡️ Biblical Self-Defense & 🏡 The Purpose of Home Groups

This Wednesday evening, we explored two important topics: what Scripture teaches about self-defense and how our upcoming home groups will help us grow together as a church family.

🛡️ Biblical Self-Defense: Protection vs. Vengeance

Is it biblical to defend yourself and your family? We examined several passages that help us understand the difference between seeking revenge and protecting those God has entrusted to our care.

📖 Exodus 22:2–3 — God’s Word recognizes the importance of protecting our homes and families.

📖 Luke 22:36 — Jesus’ instruction concerning the sword provides an important point of discussion about protection and the Christian life.

❤️ The Key Distinction: Vengeance belongs to the Lord, but protecting our families and the vulnerable is an important responsibility. We must approach both with biblical wisdom, discernment, and a heart submitted to God.

🏡 Home Groups: Moving Beyond Sunday Morning

We also discussed the heart behind our transition to Sunday evening home groups.

Church isn’t meant to be something we simply attend—it’s a body of believers growing, serving, encouraging, and doing life together!

Our home groups are designed to:

✅ Build deeper relationships and meaningful fellowship.

✅ Encourage real-life application of God’s Word.

✅ Create opportunities for hospitality, service, and discipleship.

✅ Help families train their children in biblical hospitality and godly behavior.

✅ Move us from being spectators to active participants in the life of the church.

The goal isn’t another sermon—it’s putting Sunday’s sermon into practice together!

🙌 How Can You Prepare for Home Groups?

Come ready to participate! Read the Scripture ahead of Sunday worship, listen intentionally, bring questions, and look for ways to serve your host and fellow believers. Parents, use these gatherings as opportunities to teach your children what it means to love and serve others.

⛪ Baptism & Communion: Guardians of the Church

Today, we explored two ordinances Christ gave His church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

💧 Baptism is a public declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ. It doesn’t save us, but it is an act of obedience that reflects the transforming work God has already done in our hearts.

🍞 Communion calls us to remember Christ’s sacrifice, examine our hearts, confess our sins, and reflect on the incredible gift of salvation.

We were also reminded of the heart of the Gospel: Salvation isn’t about simply knowing who Jesus is or trying to live a better life. It’s about genuine repentance, faith in Christ, and a life transformed by the Holy Spirit.

Are we simply professing faith, or are our lives bearing the fruit of truly following Jesus?

We had a full evening of teaching and discussion as we prepared for this Sunday’s special Lord’s Day service and continued our study on government, discipleship, conscience, and the Christian life.

THIS SUNDAY — A SPECIAL LORD’S DAY

We’re looking forward to a wonderful morning together as we celebrate Baptism and Communion and enjoy fellowship as a church family.

8:00 AM — Breakfast in the gym/foyer
9:00 AM — Sunday School Sing
10:30 AM — Combined Worship Service with Baptism, Communion & a short sermon
After Service — Pizza on the grounds

There will be no evening service this Sunday.

Wednesday night, Philip reminded us that Baptism and Communion do not save us, but they are precious commands Christ has given His church.

Baptism was described as a “3-D sermon”—a public testimony of what Christ has already done in the heart of a believer. Each testimony tells the story of how the Gospel became personal and real.

Communion calls us to remember the Cross and examine ourselves before the Lord (1 Corinthians 11), laying aside the sin and distractions that so easily cling to us.

Our fellowship meal also reflects the New Testament pattern of believers sharing life together in koinonia—fellowship centered on Christ.

ROMANS 13 — FAITH & GOVERNMENT

We continued our discussion of Romans 13 by considering an important historical reality: these commands were given to Christians living under rulers such as Nero.

The discussion emphasized that difficult circumstances can become tests of genuine faith. Faithfulness in the “big tests” is developed through faithfulness in the everyday ones—in our homes, personal holiness, church life, and obedience to Christ.

We were also challenged to remember that following Jesus has a cost. Biblical Christianity is not merely comfortable or entertaining. Christ calls His people to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him.

CONSCIENCE & VOTING

With an election approaching, the conversation also addressed the relationship between Christian conviction and voting. Philip emphasized that Christ’s lordship extends into every significant area of life, while also distinguishing between convictions viewed as clear biblical boundaries and matters where Christians may reach different conclusions according to conscience.

He shared that his own conscience permits voting for what he considers the “lesser of two evils,” while respecting believers whose consciences lead them differently. The emphasis was clear: political preferences should not divide the church. Christ and His Word remain central.

THE ETHICS OF VIOLENCE & SELF-DEFENSE

The evening concluded with an introduction to a discussion that will continue next week: the biblical ethics of violence, vengeance, and protecting others.

Philip distinguished between personal vengeance—which Scripture forbids—and the use of force in defense of others. More of the biblical and theological questions surrounding this subject will be explored next Wednesday night.

We’ll see you Sunday morning as we gather to worship Christ, hear testimonies of His saving grace, celebrate Baptism and Communion, and enjoy fellowship together.
