Mark Bronson Obituary
Mark Joseph Bronson, 62, of Clarksburg, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 22, 1963, in Pasadena, California, the son of the late Walter J. Bronson and Jean Ann Roden Bronson.
Mark graduated from Rosemead High School in Rosemead, California, and later attended Cal Poly State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Technology. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 1996 and later went on to get his master’s degree in Nursing from Pacific Lutheran University.
Following his military service, Mark worked as a Hazardous Materials Coordinator for the State of Washington. He and his wife moved to West Virginia to work on his PhD, where he also started his nursing career. Mark devoted himself to caring for others. He worked at Highland Hospital in Clarksburg, Amedisys Hospice, the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility, and United Hospital Center until his illness prevented him from continuing his work.
Mark was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Psychiatric Association, the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. He was also a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Stonewood.
In his free time, Mark enjoyed gardening and took particular pleasure in growing both flowers and vegetables. Above all, he cherished his family and the time he was able to spend with those he loved.
Mark is survived by his wife, Theresa Cottrill Bronson, whom he married on June 20, 1992; two children, Thea M. Wills and husband Sean, and Mark Joseph Bronson Jr.; two grandchildren, Audrey and Wynne; six siblings, Karen Bronson, Tim Bronson and wife Cindy, Paula Gomez and husband Tom, Pat Bronson and wife Hope, Tricia Bronson, and Greg Bronson and wife Sarina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his uncles, Paul Roden and George Bronson; and his aunts, Signe Roden, Mary Lou Bronson, and Kathryn Roden.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Route 98, Clarksburg, on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. with full military honors accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Visitation will continue until 7:00 p.m., when a Vigil Service will conclude the evening.
A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Cost Avenue in Stonewood, with Father Kumar Reddimasu as celebrant. Cremation will follow the Service. Due to allergies, the family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8092 Third Street, Stonewood, WV 26301.
