Dear Families of Mountain Park UMC,

We are thrilled to announce that Grace Norton-Rogers will be our next Director of Youth Ministry and will join Rebekah Shuler, Director of Children's Ministry, to complete our Mountain Park Family Ministries Team. Grace's first Sunday is this Sunday, August 2, as we celebrate "Back to School" Sunday as a Unified Service in the Sanctuary.

Sunday School will be from 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. in the Youth Room. This will be a time to get to know Grace and will be rooted in some of the scriptures that have most influenced and formed her:

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Psalm 22
Matthew 26:14-35
Ecclesiastes 2 & 3
Psalm 66:12

Hi everyone! My name is Grace Norton-Rogers, and I am so excited to meet you all! I’m from Jacksonville, FL and just graduated with my Masters in Divinity from Candler School of Theology. Academically, I’m passionate about autonomy, self-discovery, Eucharistic theology, and general “people study”. Personally, I’m passionate about my cat, Cinnamon Coca-Cola Norton-Rogers (aka Velcro), the color pink, and line dancing, among other things! See you soon, folks!

Good morning, everyone! Pastor Laura Booth’s grandbaby is on their way into the world! Her daughter is already at the hospital. The youth events tonight are canceled and will be rescheduled very soon.

Let’s all pray for Gabrielle, the baby, Pastor Laura, and the entire family on this momentous day!

CONNECTING FAITH AND JUSTICE
Lectionary Year A - 2025-2026

The Connecting Faith & Justice Youth Curriculum is based on the lectionary to align the rhythm of the Christian calendar and deepen the connection between Sunday worship and youth faith formation. The curriculum is also connected to the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church and reflects the updated 2020/2024 Social Principles. Designed through a Wesleyan lens, the curriculum helps young people explore the intersection of faith and justice, encouraging them to live out their faith in meaningful, transformative ways.

Dear Youth and Families of Mountain Park UMC,

As you know, our Director of Family Ministries, Hope Lewellen, will soon be moving to Florida with her wife, Emily, who has received a pastoral appointment there following her commissioning as an Elder in The United Methodist Church.

While we are so excited for this new chapter in their lives and ministry, we will miss Hope tremendously and are deeply grateful for the gifts, care, and leadership she has shared with the community of faith at Mountain Park. Personally, I have learned a great deal from Hope in the few months that I have been here.

As we continue our search for a permanent Director of Youth Ministry, we are delighted to welcome Pastor Laura Booth back to Mountain Park as our Interim Director of Youth Ministry for the months of June and July.

Many of you will remember Laura from her time serving as one of the Interim Associate Pastors between July 2025 and January 2026. I am grateful that she is willing to share her time and gifts with our youth during this transition.

Laura brings a wealth of experience in ministry, education, and mental health. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Mental Health Clinician, and School Social Worker, she has devoted her career to supporting children, teens, and families in their journeys toward wholeness of mind, body, and spirit. Before entering social work, Laura spent 16 years as a public school educator and has served in ministry leadership for more than two decades.

Laura is a graduate of Central State University, Mercer University, the University of Georgia, and most recently Columbia Theological Seminary, where she earned her Master of Divinity degree in 2025. She is passionate about helping young people grow in faith, discover their gifts, and experience the love of Christ within a caring community.

Please join me in welcoming Laura back to Mountain Park United Methodist! We are thankful for her willingness to serve during this season and look forward to all that God has in store for our youth ministry this summer.

What a fun end of the school year it's been in Family Ministries! ✨ This year has been filled with so much laughter, growth, learning, worship, memories, and joy together. 🫶

As this season of transition begins, I (surprise, it’s Hope!) wanted to take a moment to say thank you and goodbye after four wonderful years - if you haven't heard, May 31st will be my last day at MPUMC.

Serving alongside your families and growing with your kids and students has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. The memories, friendships, inside jokes, and moments we’ve shared are things I’ll carry with me forever. 💫

Thank you for letting me be part of your lives and for making these years so incredibly special. I love you all so much. ❤️
