Hello community of friends and neighbors,

This Sunday we continue to speak of our aim to live lives that are honoring of God's Word. We will peer into what Apostle Paul wrote to the Colossian's church(es) while he was in chains for the gospel. Imagine being imprisoned by people for speaking the very Word which can release us of our chains! Truth is, it happens everyday in countries not named the United States of America.

We would love to greet you this Sunday. Come watch the kids of the church as they get to interact with Pastor Caitlin while dressing Pastor Barry in some 'unusual' clothing combinations.

The coffee or tea is on us.

Hello Community

Apostle Paul wrote to a group of churches in Asia Minor around 60-61 AD while under house arrest in Rome. Although the title of his letter is 'Ephesians' the earliest manuscripts do not reference specifically the church in Ephesus. Rather, Paul seems to have written to churches across a large geographical area reminding all churches 1) of their identity in Christ and 2) encouraging each church to conduct itself within God's plan for unity. Although we will disagree and potentially debate within our Body, what must guide us is the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4: 3 states: "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the body of peace." This week, please listen in as a member of VECC discusses how we are aiming to take care of the members of our church (and beyond) for the Glory of God.

How about if you invite a friend or two to join us this Sunday at 10:15? I'll greet you then.

We were so glad to welcome Heather & Nick this morning! It is always a joy and inspiration to hear about their experiences in Thailand. Due to the content of the message we have removed the video from facebook but if you are interested in watching the message you can contact the church office for access.

If you are able to help support them we encourage you to do so directly through Zoe here: https://gozoe.org/missionary/durick/

Join us tomorrow at 10:15 to worship our Lord and to hear from Nick and Heather Durick on their work serving in Thailand. There will by time to join them in a Q&A after the service and to understand how to support them (as you feel led).

From Isaiah 6:

[Isa 6:6-8 NIV] 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for." 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

See you Sunday.

Romans 12: 9 (NIV) translates the original Greek text to read "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good." Paul is writing to the Christians in the city of Rome. Other translations use the phrase "without hypocrisy" instead of "sincere." True love must value one another and believe in one another in the best ways no matter skin tone, gender, age or background. This is the call of the church. This is the call of each Christian. Is there something evil circling your life? May it be abhorred and flee. Grab and hold onto the good in this life. His Name is Jesus, the Son of the Holy Father who has already defeated evil for your sake. Call on Him for the power of the Holy Spirit who will transform your life.

We invite you to join us this and every Sunday. Come worship our Lord.

Hello Community,

Have you ever driven down Rt. 72 and asked yourself what the word Covenant in our name means? Many have asked me that question since I arrived here in 2023. This Sunday I will do my best not only to tell you the meaning of Covenant but to also review the history of how this name came to be. Truly the story is God's story. This will take us back to February 1885 and the founding of our denomination, then called the Swedish Evangelical Mission Covenant Church and now the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC). You will hear of the origin of a movement in Sweden which referred to themselves as Mission Friends. Large numbers of those Friends migrated to the USA and were the beginning spark to not only the ECC, but also the Evangelical Free Church (ECFA), Converge (Swedish Baptist) and were integrated into many Lutheran churches. Join us Sunday and listen to how the biblical use of the term covenant also defines our church today.

Everyone,

This past Sunday we were blessed to have Pastor Lisa Orris with us. Lisa had served Valley Covenant for ~ 15 months as a Transitional Pastor before I came to be here in March 2023. I have included the website of Lisa's ministry above so that you can explore the resources available to you or anyone you know. Lisa and her husband Bill have met grief head on and now Lisa is giving of her life to help others walking where she has walked.

At Valley Cov we have her book (Never Apologize for Your Tears). Please feel free to stop in and discuss this ministry or book. This read is worth the time spent.
