Big shout out to St. James UMC in Churchville, VA. The Women in Faith group made a generous donation to our Shelter. Last year, this the same church helped us to purchase an air conditioning to keep our Shelter friends cool. They are one cool group of women. Thank you for being part of the connectionalism and being connected to the work of Jesus' mission.

At the Staunton Cooling Shelter, we ask:

Where do the homeless go when fresh air is no longer...fresh?

In addition to facing extremely high temperatures, homeless people in Staunton are now breathing hazy, smoky air at prolonged exposures.

We need the shelter open Monday through Friday, but we cannot open without volunteers. Sign up to volunteer today for the health of our homeless brothers and sisters. They deserve fresh air to breathe, no matter what.

Dear friends,

Please note that, due to volunteer staffing issues, the cooling shelter will be open from 11am to 5pm in the future. This will be effective starting next week and going forward.

We're still looking to fill a few spots for this week:
Thursday, July 16th, from 11am-1pm
Friday, July 17th, from 9-11am
Friday, July 17th, from 1-3pm
Friday, July 17th, from 3-5pm
Please check your availability and fill in where you are able!

Our first day of opening is June 29th, 11 am. You are all welcomed. First we will meet at the First Luthern Church, brief tour of the facilities, and lunch at the Central United Methodist Church across the street.
