Friends,
As of tomorrow, April 1st 2024, the Earth Church group will become Earth Love Community. A new private group has been created in Facebook (link below) If you would like to join the new group you can ask to join on the page. You must answer the questions in order to join. If you know someone who is already a member of the new group, you may ask them to invite you.
Information regarding new options for meeting venues will be on the new page.
We will be updating our "about" information on FB and post all new safety protocols as they are developed.
I will continue to monitor the existing FB page and group for a few weeks if you have questions.
We are excited to see new and familiar faces!

Oooooooo! Check this out, EC peeps!

On June 17th, I am turning 70! And I want to invite all of you to celebrate with me on a Magical Mystery Tour birthday/Solstice/Fundraiser extravaganza!

We'll be hopping aboard the virtual bus to see permaculture and magic in action, as we meet with past and present Earth Activists to learn more about the regenerative work they are doing. We’ll end up in in my backyard garden for a Solstice ritual and a real live bonfire.

Tickets are by donation- and your generous contributions support Earth Activist Training's Diversity Fund which will provide expansion of our programs and increased accessibility for all of our trainings!

Make a donation of any size, and get your ticket to hop aboard the Magic Tour Bus to celebrate with me here ▶︎ ▶︎ ▶︎ http://bit.ly/magic-mystery-tour-starhawks-70th

Hey peeps! It's watershed clean up time again so I'm posting details here and wondering if anyone has the energy to organize this. I'd love to do it again with Earth Church Staunton!
We are now seeking cleanup volunteers for our local participation in this year’s “2021 Clean the Bay Day Week”, sponsored by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
WHAT: Shenandoah Green, Friends of the Middle River, the Lewis Creek Watershed Advisory Committee, Altenergy, Inc., JMU Valley Scholars and the City of Staunton are joining together to create a pool of volunteers that will form four litter cleanup teams. These four sub-teams combined will comprise the Staunton Team of the Clean the Bay Day Week.
WHEN: a variety of times, June 2nd, 3rd and 5th, 2021.
WHO: Each cleanup team will be comprised of
A team Leader/Coordinator (these slots are already filled)
Scribes (total of 14 needed)
Trash Picker-Uppers – volunteers from all groups, including FOMR, SG, LCWAC, Altenergy, JMU Valley Scholars, City of Staunton
Read these role descriptions further down
WHERE: We have four (4) streamside cleanup locations to clean in Staunton:
Lewis Creek, near VSDB
New Hope Rd. along Lewis Creek
Asylum Creek, near Bessie Weller School

We’ll be meeting on 6 Saturdays beginning on 6/12 from 1-2:30pm EST (10-11:30am PST) on Zoom which I couple with another platform, Teachable. Teachable is a place to connect, get homework assignments, content downloads, comment on topics in our discussion boards, watch Zoom recordings if you missed class, want to review a class or want to prerecord your final trance and more.

Participants are also given an access code to take my online frame drum class for free and several registrants are already interested in learning so there may be a side class for trance drummers. I’ll also share resources such as a 30-minute frame drum recording I made that you could use as a soundscape for trances and other soundscaping options for musical and non-music readers alike.

Here’s a teaser of what I’m offering:

• Trance – what it is, how it’s different from meditation, wielding the power of trance ethically and effectively
• Tips and tricks for trance leaders, types of trance, Eriksonian hypnotherapy techniques, bypassing resistance, getting buy in, ensuring success, layering the intention throughout the trance, mythic and timeless language, extensive instruction for constructing and leading trances
• Creating intentions – what makes them potent, how to translate the personal to the universal for access, knowing what matters
• Crafting inductions and returns – creating the container and learning how to do them effectively in obvious support of the intention
• Crafting the body of the trance – clearly and repetitively keeping the trance on track, how this differs from normal language and the processing centers of the brain that we engage, leaving spaces for the experiences, addressing disruptions, intentional and otherwise
• Soundscaping: sound container options for all levels of musical talent that also clearly support the intention
• Putting it all together – final presentations wherein participants lead the group in their 5-10 minute trance live or recorded and posted on Teachable for reflections, feedback and celebration/closing ritual.

A lot of the work will be centered on sharing drafts and getting feedback from others so that everyone is crafting the trance they’ll share for the last class. I’m excited about it! This was my hardest won ritual skill and I really dug in and studied. I love to share what I learned and I love trance work!
