400 years before Jesus was born, Malachi told us how to recognize the real Messiah: a messenger would come first to prepare His way. That messenger was John the Baptist, and it happened exactly as God said it would (Malachi 3:1).

The Real Jesus (Part 1) | Malachi 3:1-5

There are a lot of versions of Jesus out there, and many of them aren't the Jesus of the Bible. Malachi, written 400 years before Jesus was born and right before 400 years of silence from God, gives one of the Old Testament's clearest pictures of the coming Messiah, so we'll recognize Him when we see Him. This week Pastor Danny Purvis begins Malachi 3 with the first mark of the real Jesus: He will be heralded by a messenger, fulfilled in John the Baptist preparing the way.

Marriage is the first institution God ever created, and it's a covenant. Pastor Danny makes the connection: if we start believing God has broken His covenant with us, we'll care less about the covenants we make with each other. But God has never broken His word to us. He is faithful, and that's where faithfulness in our homes begins.

What happens when you yoke an ox and a mule together? They go in circles, both get hurt, and the stronger one wears out carrying the load. That's the picture behind being "unequally yoked" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Pastor Danny explains.
