Here’s a great example of a church plant success! God will multiply the church using faithful people like the Gibson family in DC. Join us as we launch Covenant Church in St. Cloud!

In 2022, the Gibson family packed their bags with a clear vision: head to Ukraine and plant churches across Eastern Europe. But when the war broke out, their plans came to a sudden halt, leaving them to pray: “What now, Lord?”

That’s when God birthed a new burden, not to change their mission, but to change their destination.

He called them to the greater Washington, D.C. area to build a church that would reach the nations right here in North America. ⛪️

🙌 They launched Nations Church in 2024, and they recently celebrated their 10th baptism!

Only God can take our disrupted plans and turn them into a display of His glory. Join us in celebrating the Gibson family and the incredible work happening in D.C.! 👏

This includes 699 new church plants — the most we have seen in a single year since 2016 — along with 93 replants, 32 new campuses, and 127 new affiliations.

With this growth, Southern Baptists have now planted more than 12,000 new churches since 2010!

Each of those new churches is a place where someone who did not know Jesus last year can hear the gospel this Sunday.

Through Send Network, we hosted 49 assessment retreats and welcomed 456 new planters to orientation.

Our Sending Labs and Residency Builders trained 1,802 leaders from 1,111 churches.

Today at the Southern Baptist Convention, the motion brought to the floor by Dr. Al Mohler, affirming that pastoral leadership is biblically reserved for men, was affirmed by the majority of the convention. This unified decision reaffirms our commitment to a biblical framework for church leadership.
