During the month of June, our Rector/Lead Pastor, Ashley Mathews, will be away on sabbatical. She is healthy, her family is healthy, and so is our CTK staff. We believe that the ability to grant sabbatical leave is a sign of health for any church, and it is granted with a desire to ensure flourishing for the future.

Thanks to the good work of our Vestry, we have developed a thoughtful and gracious sabbatical policy for CTK's senior leaders in the hopes of creating sustainable rhythms of rest and renewal. Ashley was due for sabbatical when she came to CTK four years ago, and it is simply time for her to take some time away for creative reflection, study, prayer, and unhurried time with family.

Thankfully we have a team of wonderful pastors, clergy, and guest preachers ready to step in during her absence. But please do join us in offering prayers for Ashley and our CTK staff as she steps away. We are excited for all that the Lord has in store for this next chapter of life and we intend to enter into it healthy and whole!

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever.

Almighty God, on this day, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, you revealed the way of eternal life to every race and nation: Pour out this gift anew, that by the preaching of the Gospel your salvation may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Beginning on Tuesday, June 2nd, Isaiah+ is leading a three week study through the book of James. This will be a time for us to take a more in depth look at one of the most impactful (and most practical) books in Scripture. Whether you are new to the community, or have been around for a while, this is a great opportunity to connect with other guys from the church. On Sunday, May 17th we are going to gather for our first ever church wide picnic at Parkwood! We will have games, treats, and activities for kids in the "backyard," and we will also be hosting an important Informational Meeting regarding construction plans for adults. All are welcome! Bring your snacks, picnic blankets or lawn chairs, yard games, etc.

Parkwood Morning Prayer

On Tuesday mornings throughout the month, we are going to open the building from 6:30-8:30A for individual prayer. There will be no service or group led prayer, but everyone will have the freedom to walk the grounds or to sit and pray on your own. Our staff will be available to host and answer questions, and we will also provide a brief liturgy for self-guided prayer.
