NEWS: Upper Columbia Academy Names New Principal

After an extensive search, the Upper Columbia Academy board of directors has appointed Twila S. Brown as its new principal starting the 2026-2027 school year. Brown has more than 30 years of education experience, and has served as principal at several Adventist schools, including Lake City Junior Academy in Idaho.

On May 9, 2026, several participants from Home of Shalom, an urban ministry of Upper Columbia Conference, gathered by the Spokane River for the church plant’s first baptism. Crystal Umbarger first heard about Home of Shalom through Shine 104.9 FM. She and her mother decided to attend a church get-together and quickly became engaged and active participants.
