Proverbs for today:

14 A discerning mind seeks knowledge,
but the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.
Christian Standard Bible (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2020), Pr 15:14.

As you gather for worship today, ask God to meet with you and to make His presence known in your heart and in the hearts of your brothers and sisters.
Ask God to give you discernment today. Discernment comes from spending time in His Word and allowing Him to speak to you through it.
Be careful who you are listening to. Do they possess discernment? Are they foolish in their thinking? So they speak with God's wisdom?

Love you guys!

Proverbs for today:

13 The one who conceals his sins
will not prosper,
but whoever confesses and renounces them
will find mercy.
Christian Standard Bible (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2020), Pr 28:13.

On this Saturday, take time today to pray for the hundreds who will be serving our city through Serve The Burg today. May God be glorified and may His kingdom come in our city!
We all want to look like we have it all together in front of others, so we hide the worst parts of ourselves through self-deception or self-justification. God is not fooled!
Don't hide your sin from God! Confess, because He already knows! He is faithful and just and will always forgive. Learn to live in freedom as you turn from sin and swim in the ocean of His mercy and grace!

Love you guys!

Proverbs for today:

20:9 9 Who can say, “I have made my heart pure;
I am clean from my sin”?
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Pr 20:9.

It's Friday! May God fill you with His Spirit to finish the work week well for His glory.
We are all saved by grace and grace alone. We are incapable of making our hearts pure by our own efforts. Thank God for His amazing grace today!
God's grace also allows us to be gracious to those around us. Who do you need to extend grace to today? Ask God to enable you to demonstrate His grace to that person today.

Love you guys!

Proverbs for today:

16:2 2 All a person’s ways seem right to him,
but the Lord weighs motives.
Christian Standard Bible (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2020), Pr 16:2.

On this Opening Day for Major League Baseball, take time to thank God for how He has provided for your needs so far this week.
Our hearts can be so deceptive. We seldom admit that our motives may be wrong. We convince ourselves that we are in the right.
Thank God that He is the final judge. Ask Him to give you a discerning heart today to know what is truly right before Him. Then ask the Spirit to fill you to do the right thing.

Love you guys!

Proverbs for today:

4:23-26 23 Guard your heart above all else,
for it is the source of life.
24 Don’t let your mouth speak dishonestly,
and don’t let your lips talk deviously.
25 Let your eyes look forward;
fix your gaze straight ahead.
26 Carefully consider the path for your feet,
and all your ways will be established.
Christian Standard Bible (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2020), Pr 4:23–26.

Ask God to help you be hyper-sensitive to guarding your heart today. The way you live your life today will flow from your heart.
Be very careful what your eyes take in today. May they see the beauty of God all around you and cause you to praise Him.
Be very careful where your feet take you today. Walk in wisdom, firmly trusting in God.

Love you guys!

Bob

Proverbs for today:

4:18-19 18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
19 The way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
they do not know over what they stumble.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Pr 4:18–19.

On this "bright" Tuesday, be sensitive to the needs of those around you. Who is God placing in your day that needs to see His love?
Jesus said "I am the light of the world". He is the One who lights our way as we go through each day. Walk in the Light today!
Walking on our own, we will always stumble around in the dark. Let God's Word light the darkness for you today.

Love you guys!

Proverbs for today:

4:10-12 10 Hear, my son, and accept my words,
that the years of your life may be many.
11 I have taught you the way of wisdom;
I have led you in the paths of uprightness.
12 When you walk, your step will not be hampered,
and if you run, you will not stumble.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Pr 4:10–12.

It's Monday. What are you asking God to do in your life as you approach the beginning of another work week?
God has laid out His wisdom in His Word. He has shown us the way to live a godly life for Him. Choose to do the right thing this week with every decision you make.
The Holy Spirit is walking each step with us to help keep us from stumbling. Say yes to the Spirit today with each step.

Love to all!

Proverbs for today:

Job 4:7 7 Consider: Who has perished when he was innocent?
Where have the honest been destroyed?
Christian Standard Bible (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2020), Job 4:7.

As you gather for worship today, ask God to fill your heart with thanksgiving and praise.
There is an answer to Job's questions in this verse. Only one Man perished while innocent, and was completely honest all of His life. Praise God that Jesus is the answer to Job's question.
May we never forget the sacrifice Jesus made in our place. May we always be in awe of His incomprehensible love for us!

Much love,

Bob

Proverbs for today:

Job 42:5-6 5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you;
6 therefore I despise myself,
and repent in dust and ashes.”
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Job 42:5–6.

It's another Saturday and another opportunity to spend some extra time with God today. Review your week with Him and thank Him for all of the times He revealed Himself to you.
When we "see" God in the things He does in our lives it should bring a profound sense of awe and remind us that we are but dust. May we be captured by His glory today.
A clear vision of God also forces us to see how short we fall of His holiness. As He reveals Himself to us, may that also cause us to repent of any unconfessed sin in our hearts and then swim in His ocean of grace.

Love you guys!

Bob

Proverbs for today:

Job 23:10 10 But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Job 23:10.

The work week is winding down. Ask God to help you to see the glimpses of Him around you today and then treasure those moments of His presence in your life.
God is fully aware of everything we are going through. Nothing is hidden from His gaze.
All that we go through is working towards His making us into the image of His Son. When we see Him in glory, we will be pure gold in His eyes!

Much love,

Bob

Proverbs for today:

Job 35:9-11 9 People cry out because of severe oppression;
they shout for help because of the power of the mighty.
10 But no one asks, “Where is God my Maker,
who provides us with songs in the night,
11 who gives us more understanding than the animals of the earth
and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?”
Christian Standard Bible (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2020), Job 35:9–11.

What are you struggling with today? What is causing grief to your soul? Where are you turning for comfort?
When trouble hits, your first turn must be to God. He is the one that can give us songs to sing, even in the "night" of our troubles.
Take time today to sing praise to God for who He is, even in the middle of your difficulties. As you do, may you be reminded of His infinite wisdom that is at work in your life.

Love to all!

Bob
