This past Sunday, we looked at "The Return of the Prodigal Son" by Spanish Artist Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (c. 1667-1670). Did you hear the message? What stands out to you about this painting?

Today, the day before Ash Wednesday, we present to you Romans 7:15-25, where Paul gives us a raw and honest look at the struggle we all can relate to—frustration over sin, the desire to do good, and the inability to escape human brokenness.

But even amidst this battle, Paul doesn’t leave us lost in despair. Thanks be to God! For instead, he points us to Christ, our Deliverer, the One who rescues us from this body that is subject to death. Although we walk in great, thick darkness, Christ continues to illuminate our lives with his all-consuming love. Thanks be to God!

Thanks to scriptureinmotion.com for access to this video for our reflection.

Hope to see you at one of our Ash Wednesday services, 11am or 7pm, and our soup supper starting at 5pm.

Have you ever wondered about what sort of archaeological evidence there is for the Bible?
Consider giving a listen to Dr. Paul Maier, whose life, legacy, and writings continue to inspire others.

Long-time friend and guest on Issues, Etc., Dr. Paul Maier died on February 27, 2025. Over the last 30 years, Dr. Maier joined us for numerous interviews. Listen to some of the best of those conversations at issuesetc.org/maier.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
(Isaiah 60:1-2)

Happy Epiphany, everyone!

Pastor Andrew referenced this story on the Second Sunday of Advent. Pastor Bryan's testimony is well worth listening to!
