On Sept. 9, the Church celebrates St. Peter Claver, a Spanish Jesuit priest who dedicated his ministry to serving enslaved Africans arriving in Colombia. He met them with food, medicine, comfort and the assurance of their God-given dignity.

May his witness challenge us to recognize Christ in those who suffer, defend the dignity of every person and serve others with courage and compassion.
⁣

On Sept. 8, the Church celebrates the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her birth brought the world one step closer to the coming of Christ and reminds us that God quietly prepares the way for his saving work.

Today, we give thanks for Mary’s life, her faithful “yes” and her loving example of trust in God.
⁣
Happy birthday, Blessed Mother! Pray for us.

Question of the Week: How can you approach a difficult conversation with greater honesty, humility and love?

In Matthew 18:15-20, Jesus teaches us to seek reconciliation directly and compassionately when someone has hurt us. Rather than allowing resentment or division to grow, we are called to take the first step toward healing.
⁣
Ask God for the wisdom to speak with charity, the humility to listen and the courage to pursue peace.

In observance of Labor Day, our parish office will be closed Monday, Sept. 7. We will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 8, during regular office hours.

As we enjoy this day of rest, we pray for all workers and give thanks for the dignity of work and the many ways our labor allows us to serve God and one another. Have a safe and blessed Labor Day!

On Sept. 5, the Church celebrates St. Teresa of Calcutta, whose life revealed the love of Christ through humble service to the poorest and most vulnerable.

Known throughout the world as Mother Teresa, she reminds us that holiness often begins with small acts of love offered to those right in front of us. May her example inspire us to recognize Christ in every person and serve others with compassion.

Today, Sept. 3, the Church celebrates St. Gregory the Great, pope and Doctor of the Church. Remembered for his humble leadership, care for the poor and commitment to spreading the Gospel, St. Gregory helped shape the Church’s liturgy and strengthened its mission during a time of great change.
