Parents, here’s what we talked about today at OHBC Kids
Today’s big truth: Sin always costs something.
Romans 6:23 (ESV)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
We talked about how sin is like something that looks good at first…
but later you realize:
“That was NOT worth it.” BUYERS REMORSE
We used examples (bad purchases, broken toys, etc.) to show:
Sin promises something good…but it always costs more than you think.
Bible Story: Adam & Eve (Genesis 3)
Sin looked: good, fun, exciting
But immediately it brought:
shame, fear, hiding, separation
Sin always takes more than it promises.
We also talked about how sin lies to us:
“It’s not a big deal”
“Nobody will know”
“Just this once”
But even “small” sins grow and they always cost something:
peace, joy, trust, closeness with God
The Good News
Sin costs…but Jesus already paid.
Jesus took our punishment
Jesus carried our sin
Jesus paid what we owed
Salvation is a gift, not something we earn.
Talk about it at home:
What are some things that seem good at first but aren’t worth it later?
What did Adam & Eve lose because of sin?
Why does sin always cost something?
What did Jesus do for us?
Bottom line:
Sin will always take more than it gives…but Jesus gives more than we could ever deserve.
