I am a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. But today I got to worship with them as the Bishop, preaching at our 70th anniversary. It was great to see so many who call(ed) Hope their home. It was especially meaningful to hear two commissioned music pieces by members of Hope and a children’s choir piece by Sioux Falls’ Dorothy Christopherson. It was a beautiful and hopeful celebration.

What a lovely morning at Crocker Lutheran Church. I had the honor of confirming 3 young adults and bless 2 out of 4 high school graduates. Of course worship was followed by egg coffee and a potluck. Day Six in Nicaragua 🇳🇮

Today was the day we had all been waiting for, Bishop Katia’s installation as bishop of ILFE.

People gathered from across Nicaragua and around the world, filling the church in Managua with joy, song, and deep gratitude. The worship was festive and alive, a true celebration of the Spirit at work in and through this community.

I had the profound honor of presiding at the installation. It is a moment I will carry with me for a long time.

The afternoon offered a brief pause, time to rest, to begin packing, and to take in all that has unfolded over these days. Then, in the evening, we gathered again for a festive banquet, filled with tributes, words of blessing, music, and laughter.

It was a day of holy joy.

Now, with bags packed and alarms set for the early morning hours, we prepare to head home.

It has been an honor to be here. An honor to witness. An honor to walk alongside.

We do not say goodbye.
We say, see you later.
