GENEX Account Manager and Dordt alum, Casey Rhoda, shared his expertise in genetics and herd strategies with the Dairy Science class first in the classroom and then on farm. Students had the opportunity to learn about genomics and the advancements the dairy industry has made using this technology.

Thanks to Curtis Van Grouw, owner of Old Parlor Meat Company for an educational tour on food safety for the students in the Introduction to Animal Science class! Curt shared the story of starting his own business, stepping out in faith and the way his business has flourished in the past few years.

The Dairy Science class had the opportunity to tour the Hettinga Dairy near Orange City which milks 150 jersey cows. Students learned about the operation and flow of the dairy from birth of the calf, growing, breeding, gestation, calving, lactation and dry off. Thanks to Jason for a great tour!
