The Rev. Justin Grimm has been elected to a six-year term as bishop of the Saint Paul Area Synod! He currently serves as the synod's director for evangelical mission and assistant to the bishop for congregational vitality, a position he’s held since 2015. He previously served as lead pastor at Advent Lutheran Church in Lake Ann, Mich., after first serving as the mission developer. He is a graduate of Northwestern College, Iowa and Luther Seminary. He was ordained in 2005. Bishop-Elect Grimm will succeed The Rev. Patricia Lull, who is completing her second term as bishop. An installation service will be held Sept. 13.

Yesterday our newly formed call committee was installed at both services. We are so grateful for the wisdom and care they bring this work and the time they are dedicating to our community. We are also looking forward to the next chapter with a third pastoral team member.

Last night Shepherd’s Governing Board participated in our annual Board Training with Dr Dave Webb from homerunleadership.com. We learned about our decision making types, constructive ways to have hard conversations around important decisions, conflict management, the differences between governance and management, and more.

Dr. Webb has helped Shepherd of the Hills in Shoreview MN run effective and constructive governance for the last 9+ years and we could not recommend him enough to other churches for their Councils/Governing Boards!
