What a privilege it has been for us …not only to be a part of the NWD family for the past 17 years, but also what a rich blessing to conclude this time getting to connect with several of our incredible pastors and co-workers on our District’s west side!
On August 14, we were privileged to be a part of the Ordination Service for Karen Baughman at EVERY1 Church in Spokane Valley, WA. It was a special night as two of the Baughman teens led us in a time of worship, before Rev. Mark Schmerse initiated the formal portion of the service. Rev. Kitty Hayes & Rev. Jay Wentowrth read the Scriptures before I shared the Ordination message. Karen’s husband, Rev. Paul Baughman, led in the prayer of enduement as several ordained ministers joined us for the laying on of hands. Both Rev. Jon and Rev. Melissa Jackson from House of Faith were also able to participate with us. God is doing amazing things in and through the body of believers at EVERY1 Church.
On August 16, we were in Yakima, WA at Spirit Alive Church to worship with Rev. Jay & Karla Wentworth and their church family. Pastor Jay stressed the importance and impact of taking a sabbath day to rest and be renewed; the need to get your refill from God, not from the world. Pastor Jay & Karla have been leading this local church for the past three years.
On August 23, we were in Salem, OR at Capital Park Church. We were privileged to worship with Rev. Claude & Becky Alley and their church family. There was such a spirit of joy, celebration and thanksgiving evident in the service. Pastor Claude’s message emphasized 1 John 3:1 – "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!" The church also recently had a baptism service and baptized 5 people. Pastor Claude & Becky have been leading at Capital Park since 2018.
On either side of these two special weekends, we were privileged and blessed to get to connect along the way with several others of our pastors and spouses. We also treasured our time connecting with a couple of our Retired Pastors.
Thanks to Pastor Wes who encouraged us to make this trek!
