Saint Kateri made a special surprise visit to Camp last Saturday for our 100th Anniversary Open House! 💥
Trust us, we were just as surprised. The backstory is so clearly the Holy Spirit:
Our team has been praying so fervently over the past few years to have a relic of Saint Kateri here at Camp, to continually pray with and honor her simple but profound courage and faith as we strive to become saints.
The likelihood of this prayer coming to fruition was seeming smaller and smaller, as it was made known how few relics exist of St Kateri and how challenging it is to acquire or loan one. We had essentially abandoned the hope that it would ever happen, settling for the fact that we would just have to keep going back to visit Kateri's gravesite in Montreal.
FAST FORWARD to a few days before our 100th anniversary summer kickoff last weekend when our dear friends at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion gave us a call and shared that they had just received a Kateri relic on loan ... and all approvals were clear for them to share it with us at Camp for our special day on Saturday.
The "accidental" perfect timing and beautiful simplicity of this gift still brings tears. All those in attendance at Mass received a special blessing from Bishop Ricken with the Kateri relic, and we kickstarted our 100th summer with an incredible power up.
St Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us and all those we will serve this summer!
‼️You can visit the relic of St Kateri at Our Lady of Champion anytime between now and July 9th as part of their American Saints Exhibit. After that, the relic will return to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Martyrs in New York (Kateri's birthplace) where you can also visit!
