Sebastian Christian Church Sebastian Christian Church's page A brief history of Sebastian Christian Church. It was apparent God felt the need for a church as well.

Some 30+ years ago a vision of a New Testament church is Sebastian, Florida was held dear. During the early 80's part of that dream was fulfilled when the land that holds our facilities was purchased. In spite of obstacles, Sebastian Christian Church managed to hang on and move forward. Ernest and Judy Miller began their ministry at Sebastian Christian the first Sunday in December 1992. The then "meeting place" was costly, cramped and offered little possibility for growth. A move to Sebastian Masonic Lodge afforded a hope for the future, while a thoughtful, loving monetary gift was the beginning of the dream realized. The congregation of Sebastian Christian was determined to construct a building and funds began to amass. God blessed the pure motives and dedicated prayers of many. Plans were completed, legal hurdles addressed, and the building became a reality! Shared sweat and a lot of volunteer hours preceded our "move in" Sunday, September 7, 1998. Paul reminds us that "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work" (Hebrews 6:10). As we grasped the truth, Sebastian Christian Church grew steadily. All phases of the congregation blossomed as new programs were begun and new faces appeared. The second phase was a needed for classrooms and nursery facilities. The "new" building was a wonderful addition. Gradually, what began as a lot of room began to shrink. It became necessary to put up more chairs as worshippers entered on Sundays. Once again, the vision of a worship center began to grow. And once again, God greatly blessed us with adequate financial gifts and support from all the congregation. The result is the beautiful worship center we use today. The history of Sebastian Christian Church will always be important, but we need to focus on the future. Jesus reminds us in John 4:35, "open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for the harvest." With the adequate growing room we have, our focus must be on the work to which Jesus calls us. As we learn more about Him, we shall be better equipped to share the Gospel. We see lonely, hurting people everywhere and we have a responsibility to be Christ-like in dealing with all people. Never let an opportunity for service lapse into idleness. As we labor today, pray for tomorrow, may God grant His favor on us. May we never lose sight of our ultimate home in Heaven.

Wednesday Evening Bible Study

🦈 The Chum Bucket organization at Sebastian River High School was so appreciative of our food drive in July! Thank you all who donated.

As they have been preparing for Thanksgiving they received notification that they will not be receiving holiday boxes this year from Treasure Coast Food Bank. Due to this they’re asking for donations to provide Thanksgiving dinner for the 77 families they serve.

Their specific needs are:
- Cranberry sauce
- Stuffing
- Gravy
- Small cans of yams
- Mashed potatoes
- Canned fruits
- Mac&cheese
- Canned vegetables (corn, green beans, peas, carrots, etc.)
- Canned turkey or ham

❗️Remember, no fresh or refrigerated foods.

Most of us know what it feels like to be on the outside — not rejected outright, just quietly overlooked. And sometimes we wonder if that’s where we stand with God too.

Yesterday we explored Ephesians 3:1-13 and found something extraordinary. Paul calls it “the mystery” — not a puzzle impossible to solve, but a truth that was once hidden and has now been fully revealed through Jesus:

God’s plan has always included people far from Him. Not as second-class members. Not as probationary guests. As equal heirs in one new family.

And here’s the part that challenges all of us: Paul’s message doesn’t just speak to people who feel far from God. It also asks those of us who already follow Jesus — who is outside YOUR circle? Who have you quietly decided is unlikely to belong?

Peter loved Jesus, preached the gospel, and had seen the resurrection — and he still needed his assumptions corrected. That should keep all of us humble.

The door is open. Jesus paid the cost. Our job isn’t to build a new wall at the entrance. It’s to point people toward the open door.

It is easy to become so busy with the activities of faith that we lose sight of its heart. Jesus calls us into a life transformed by His presence—a life that overflows in love for others.

This week we looked at one of the most subtle dangers in the Christian life — what we called "The Religion Trap."

Religion is powerful. It can inspire extraordinary generosity, courage, and sacrifice. But that same power can be turned toward fear, control, shame, and division. History shows us both sides.

Paul's message in Galatians 5 cuts right through it: in Christ, the question isn't "Do you have the right religious marker?" It's "Does your faith show up in love?" And Jesus was clear in John 13: the world will know His followers by their love — not their theology debates, not their political influence, not the size of their buildings.

You can affirm every right belief and still treat your neighbor terribly. You can be correct in your doctrine and cruel in your behavior. Correct belief was never meant to be the finish line — love is.

Because 1 Corinthians 6:19 reminds us that we carry the presence of God's Spirit with us — into our homes, our workplaces, our relationships, our everyday moments. There is no sacred-versus-secular divide.

The person in front of you right now? They bear the image of God. They are someone Jesus gave His life for.

That changes everything.
