Mark your calendars (yes, again!) for "Pronouns for grandparents and other interested parties." Thursday, June 18, 7 pm at Magnolia Lutheran Church. This (free of course) talk discusses what happens when someone you know, often a younger person, changes what pronouns they use, what that might mean, and how you can respond. We'll start with a bit of terminology so everyone has the same vocabulary, and we will have lots of time for questions.

I (Anne Krook if not clear from context) will be presenting; I am a former board member and board chair of Lambda Legal, a organization that advocates for the legal rights of all LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV.

Mark your calendars! the first silent reading evening is Wednesday, June 17, 7 pm at Magnolia Lutheran!

Bring a book or pick one of ours to read (you may keep it to finish and bring back when you are done). We'll start at 7 in our library (use the north entrance doors) and read for an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. For those who want to stay and chat a bit, we'll put out drinks and a snack in an adjacent room so people can talk if they wish and people can also continue to read if they wish.

Older kids are welcome but need to be of an age to be quiet with their own material for the whole time; you decide if that is your child at this point.

Staying Safe from Scams & Fraud: free talk at Magnolia Lutheran, Thursday May 21, 7 pm

Scams today are increasingly sophisticated and can target anyone, often through emails, text messages, phone calls, social media, online relationships, or online marketplaces.

This workshop will explain how common scams work, including phishing, impersonation, tech-support, refund, romance, and fraudulent investment offers. Many of these scams rely on unusual payment methods such as gift cards or other hard-to-trace ways of sending money.

Participants will learn practical ways to recognize warning signs, verify suspicious requests, and protect themselves and their families from financial fraud. Several real-world examples will illustrate how these scams operate and what steps to take if you encounter one.

Pro tip! If you wish your older parents would come to this talk, don't send them, bring them
