Weekend Challenge

This weekend, spend time in Joshua 1:1–9.

After Moses’ death, God spoke directly to Joshua: “Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan… Be strong and courageous… This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night… for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.”

Notice three things God emphasized:
1. Arise and move on—even when the previous leader is gone.
2. Stay anchored in the Word—on it day and night.
3. Rely on His presence— wherever you go.

Application for us: Transitions, new responsibilities, and unknown territory can feel overwhelming. Yet God still calls us to arise, stay rooted in Scripture, and walk in the confidence of His nearness.

Reflection questions:
1. Where might God be inviting you to “arise and cross” something new right now?

2. How consistent has your meditation on Scripture been lately, and what simple adjustment could help?

3. In what situation this week do you most need to remember that the Lord is with you?
Take time to pray through these questions. Let Joshua’s commissioning become your own.

Impact

Encouraging progress continues across the 23 languages of Through the Scriptures!

Recent months have seen fresh momentum in several key languages—including continued work in Mandarin (Chinese), Hindi, Punjabi, and Ukrainian resources are becoming more widely available. Dedicated translation teams, in-country printing efforts, and new digital courses going live are steadily opening doors for preachers and everyday believers who long for solid, verse-by-verse Bible teaching in their heart language.

Every page printed and every course completed means more men and women equipped to teach the pure Word of God in their own communities. What a privilege to be part of this global work together!

MidWeek Peak

Halfway through the week, let’s pause with Joshua’s words: “Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

God did not give Joshua an easy assignment. He gave him a clear one—and the promise of His presence. The same is true for us. Whatever challenge sits on your desk, in your home, or on your heart today, you do not face it alone.

The God who went before Israel still goes before you. Take a quiet moment to remember that truth. Let it steady your steps and quiet your fears.

You are not behind. You are not forgotten.

The Lord your God is with you.

Weekend Challenge

Scripture to carry into the weekend (from the early ministry of Jesus, as explored in The Life of Christ, 1):

“And a voice came out of the heavens: ‘You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.’” (Mark 1:11, NASB)

Jesus heard the Father’s affirmation at the very start of His public work. Before the crowds, the miracles, the opposition, and the cross, the Father declared His pleasure. That same Father still speaks identity and belonging over those who are in Christ.

This weekend, set aside time to read Mark 1:1–15 slowly (or the parallel passages in Matthew and Luke). Notice how Jesus begins His ministry—not with self-promotion, but with identification, obedience, and dependence on the Spirit.

Reflection questions:
1. Where in your own life do you most need to hear the Father’s “I am well-pleased” again?

2. How does Jesus’ willingness to identify with us in baptism reshape the way you view ordinary obedience this week?

3. What one step of quiet faithfulness can you take this weekend that mirrors the humility of Jesus at the Jordan?

Printed materials continue to reach preachers and teachers in many of these same tongues, and new courses keep going live on our TTS site so students anywhere with internet access can study in their heart language.

Every translation, every download, every printed volume is another step toward the goal of making thorough, verse-by-verse Bible study available to the widest possible audience. When Jesus stepped into the Jordan to be baptized, He was identifying fully with the people He came to save. No sin of His own—yet He chose to stand with us. That same heart of identification continues today. Whatever burden or ordinary day you’re carrying, the One who entered the water still draws near.
