Sisters of IHM

Sisters of IHM A community of Catholic women religious dedicated to God and service to God's people. Together we form a loving partnership in all our apostolic works.

Ministries
The Congregation is present in the works of its individual members wherever we render service. This partnership is expressed in our varied apostolates: education, health care, social service, pastoral and spiritual ministries. All our ministries are works for justice and peace; they receive and give life in relationship to the depth of our spiritual union with Jesus and our partici

pation in his mission. The IHM Sisters have a strong presence in 9 states, the District of Columbia and internationally in Mexico and Peru. Our sisters share the unconditional love of God in all our places of ministry. Our sponsored ministries in Scranton, Pennsylvania, include Saint Joseph’s Center, Marywood University, Friends of the Poor, and Our Lady of Grace Montessori School and Spiritual Center in Manhasset, NY. The IHM Congregation seeks ways to collaborate with others in a way that meets the needs of the poor, spiritually neglected, sick, uneducated and abandoned by co-sponsoring in the following ministries: Mother Seton Academy in Baltimore, MD; the African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC) and the Nativity Miguel School of Scranton. We invite others to join us as we strive to deepen our spiritual lives, our understanding of God's love in our lives, and our desire to serve others especially the marginalized and the oppressed.

Data centers create severe environmental and community issues, primarily driven by the massive energy demands of modern AI models. A major impact includes Carbon Emissions & Air Pollution: Cooling and powering servers require huge amounts of electricity. Fossil-fuel dependency and on-site diesel backup generators emit toxic air pollutants like particulate matter and nitrogen oxides.

Today, we are honored to celebrate Sister Suzie Armbruster, whose dedicated presence on our leadership team for the past four years has been a true blessing to our congregation. With a remarkable array of gifts, Sister Suzie has transformed our communal life, enriching our liturgies, prayer services, and service projects with a deeply moving, visually inspiring ambiance, a talent for uplifting song, and a profound spirit of contemplative prayer. Beyond her creative contributions, her warm, pastoral approach to every duty and relationship has left an indelible mark on our community, fostering connection both within the IHM family and far beyond our walls. We are profoundly grateful for her compassionate service, her steady guidance, and the grace with which she has shared her many talents; we are a better, more vibrant congregation because of her presence among us.

We can no longer pretend that our digital lives are cost-free. There is a "butcher’s bill" for every gigabyte of data we consume. If we are going to continue building this digital world, the least we can demand is that it doesn’t come at the cost of the ground we walk on, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. It is time to stop being the silent patrons of an unsustainable machine and start being the architects of a smarter, cleaner, and more accountable cloud.
