First Baptist Church of Schenevus FBC Schenevus holds to the fundamentals of faith as expressed in the Scriptures, preaching the whole counsel of God to a world in need of the grace of God.

First Baptist Church of Schenevus was first organized in 1871 and has been continually conducting worship services since its inception. The church was founded upon the doctrine contained in the New Hampshire Confession of Faith of 1833 and remains faithful to its doctrinal heritage. First Baptist Church holds unequivocally to the fundamentals of the faith as expressed in the Scriptures, preaching the whole counsel of God to a world in need of the grace of God. Sadly, many born-again believers are not the salt and light that they instructed to be by their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Therefore, unsaved people are not being reached with the gospel and fellow believers are not seeing godly role models to observe and imitate! Unsaved people do not see…
-godly, victorious marriages and homes,
-exemplary godly Christians in their workplace,
-believers giving Jesus Christ the preeminence in all the areas of their lives,
-wise use of finances, possessions, time, talents, and spiritual gifts to the glory of Christ, etc.
They do see these believers with the same bad attitudes that they possess, they see believers who cannot get along with each other, people who say one thing but live something else and the list goes on.
Surrender daily to the Lordship of Christ so that you will always be the salt and light that He desires for you to be for His glory and not cause. unsaved people to reject your witness.

HOT HEADS AND COLD HEARTS!

A born-again believer who is hot-headed has either a cold or lukewarm heart! Sadly, there are many manifestations of this type of believers and they….
-destroy their marriages,
-destroy their families,
-destroy friendships, their own and others,
-bring a lot of hurt to their church families,
-are right and others are wrong,
-can’t be reasoned with,
-walk away from family and other relationships, giving the silent treatment, etc.

WHAT I LOVE TO DO!

I love to praise the Lord because He is my strength! He gives me His strength to do everything that that He wants me to do! He gives me His strength to be all that He wants me to be! He gives me His strength in the difficult times of life!
I love to praise Him because He is my shield and protector in every situation!
I love to praise Him because I have trusted Him in every situation and He has always helped me and will do so!
I love to praise Him with songs because of His awesome love for me, His faithfulness, mercies, and because He gives me every type of grace needed!
I love to praise Him because He gives me opportunities to serve and glorify Him all through life!
I love to praise Him because He has given to me and you the privilege of sharing the Gospel in every way possible with those who need to be saved!

These are just a few times David asked the Lord to lead him. When we ask for the Lord to lead us according to His will in all the areas of our lives and church ministries, we must…
-remember His will may be different than ours,
-remember that He is not limited in the ways that He works,
-let Him take us out of our comfort zone,
-be willing to let Him enable us to think outside of the box in order to do His will,
-let Him make full use of our imaginations so that He can enable us to produce super-abundant fruit for His glory!
Too many times, we can ask the Lord to lead us, but we have already made up our minds the way He would or would not lead us. Therefore, we are not open to what He wants to do! Do you really want the Lord to lead you or do you want Him to follow you?
If He is not your Lord and Savior, com to the Lord Jesus NOW!

TIME TO THINK EARNESTLY!

When there are dissensions, and jealousies, and evil speakings among professors of religion, then there is great need of a revival. These things show that Christians have got far from God, and it is time to think earnestly of a revival.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:30-32

It is time for individual born-again believers, families and church families to think seriously about revival! Bitterness, rage, anger brawling, slander and every form of malice is destroying Christian marriages, families, church families, and relationships and unsaved people are watching and have little or no respect for their claim to be followers of Christ! Of course, this brings great delight to Satan and his emissaries!
As a born-again believer, you cannot love the Lord with your entire being, be surrendered to His Lordship and practice this type of behavior! If any of the descriptions of our text are part of your life, do not fool yourself; your life is not right with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and you cannot experience His richest blessings. You must be kind, compassionate, forgiving others just as Christ has forgiven you! Don’t make excuses or play the blame again because that will not be accepted by the Lord Jesus Christ before whom you will stand to give an account at the Judgement Seat of Christ.

THE THINGS OF THIS WORLD!

How strong does the things of this world have power over you?

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
Colossians 3:1-3, KJV
“Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. 3 For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.” Amplified Bible

Sadly, things of this world have a very strong hold have many born-again believers to Satan’s delight! When their affections are wrapped up in the things of this world instead of eternal realities, they will not...
-have a strong vibrant relationship with their Lord and Savior,
-be investing a lot of time in serving Him with their time, talents, spiritual gifts, finances and material possessions,
-be faithful in church attendance,
-be strong in witnessing to unsaved people who need Christ,
-be producing super-abundant fruit for His glory,
-be godly role models for fellow believers, etc.

CASUAL?

Can we be casual in the work of God -- casual when the house is on fire, and people in danger of being burned?

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach (proclaim) the gospel to every creature.” -Mark 16:15

Everyone who is a born-again believer is an ambassador for Christ and Paul spoke about the urgency we should possess in that we need to implore people to be reconciled to God by surrendering their life to the Lord Jesus, trusting Him and Him alone to be their Lord and Savior. Jesus said that we need to proclaim the gospel to every creature! Knowing that eternal destiny is at stake, Heaven or Hell, we must not be casual in sharing the gospel with…
-unsaved family members,
-unsaved relatives,
-unsaved neighbors,
-unsaved coworkers, etc.
We must view them as people who are headed for Hell and do everything possible to make sure they understand clearly their need of Christ and can receive Him as their Lord and Savior! Remember, we have no choice; we are ambassadors for Christ!

BE BOLD!

Boldness is not only required of ministers but of every born-again believer! As we love the Lord Jesus Christ with our entire being, walk close to Him every day, surrendered to His Lordship, He will enable us to lovingly reprove fellow believers whose attitudes, actions, and responses are not in agreement with the Lord and His Word and take a loving, firm stand against sin in any form with unbelievers, sharing the gospel with them, urging them to trust the Lord Jesus and Him alone to be their Lord and Savior, before it is too late.
We will not be timid cowards but manifesting the boldness of Christ in every situation! We will not be ashamed when we stand before Him to have all our service for Him judged by Him!

PULLING DOWN STRONGHOLDS!

How can you pull down strongholds of Satan if you don't even have the strength to turn off your TV?

We, who belong to the Lord Jesus are not to give Satan an opportunity to work in our lives but by His power cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. However, we are giving Satan an opportunity to work in our lives when we do not control the TV and watch things that we know the Lord Jesus doesn’t want us to view. But TV is not the only problem. When we read material that sows wicked thoughts in our minds and view on our phones, tablets, and computers sites that do the same thing, we are giving Satan the opportunity. We are to guard our hearts and minds. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” When we do, we will be obeying Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” How are you doing at mind control?
