For a child will be born for us, a Son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

"The Bible does not have two divergent testaments bound under one cover. Rather, the Bible is one book with one ultimate author and one central character who appears in two testaments, the old of promise and the new of fulfillment" ~Kim Riddlebarger

Look, the days are coming—this is the declaration of the Lord GOD—when I will send a famine through the land: not a famine of bread or a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD. (Amos 8:11)

"The desires of the "old man" are not toward, but away from the things of God. It is the "new man" which is alone capacitated to love and serve the Lord.... It is the hunger for and heeding of His Word which distinguishes the true child of God from the empty professor." ~A.W Pink

He is here: the one who forms the mountains, creates the wind,
and reveals His thoughts to man, the one who makes the dawn out of darkness and strides on the heights of the earth. The LORD, the God of Armies, is His name. (Amos 4:13)

"So the decision facing Christians today is simply this: Will we take our lead at this point from Jesus and the apostles? Will we let ourselves be guided by a Bible received as inspired and therefore wholly true (for God is not the author of untruths), or will we strike out, against our Lord and his most authoritative representatives, on a line of our own?' ~ J. I Packer

“For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14)

“The more I study the Scriptures, the example of Christ, and of the apostles, and the history of my own heart, the more I am convinced, that a testimony of God, placed without us and above us, exempt from all intermixture of sin and error which belong to a fallen race, and received with submission on the sole authority of God, is the true basis of faith.” ~Adolphe Monod

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

“Whenever we read the Old Testament Scriptures, we are hearing the Holy Spirit speaking to us. This is the voice of the same person who indwells us for our salvation and spiritual growth. Therefore, let us listen to what the Spirit says to the church through the Old Testament. We should love these ancient writings, receive them not as the mere words of men but as the words of God, cherish them as our very life, and obey them without rebellion or hesitation.” ~Joel Beeke

Grab your Bible and join us from The Savannah Mission Bible Training Center as we continue to work through the Baptist Catechism. Tonight we take up Question 53 and the words “before Me” in the first commandment—words that mean God sees everything we do, even what we try to hide. We will look at a vision in which God shows His people putting other gods in His house: a public idol at the door, secret worship in the dark, misplaced grief given to a false hope, and worshipers turning their backs on Him. The point is simple and searching: no rival god stays hidden, the Lord notices and is displeased, and the good news is that Jesus stood before the Father in our place so we can come into the light and worship Him with a whole heart. www.sermonaudio.com/sermons/9226131535474
