Our Scholar-in-Residence weekend with Rabbi Dr. Seth Kunin begins Friday evening with a New Mexican dinner and Kabbalat Shabbat, followed by a thought-provoking talk on the historical origins of Crypto-Judaism in the Southwest and around the world.
The weekend continues with Shabbat morning services, where Rabbi Seth Kunin will deliver a sermon titled “Does Judaism Require Supernaturalism?” After Kiddush lunch, he will explore the stories, practices, and beliefs of New Mexico’s Crypto (hidden) Jews.

Alternative Shabbat Sessions
with Rabbi Hugh Seid-Valencia
Every Fourth Shabbat
Begins Saturday, May 30, 10:00–11:00 a.m.
In these sessions, we will engage in close readings of excerpts from some of the early Hasidic masters' commentaries on the weekly Torah portion. These readings and discussions will serve as a springboard to explorations of mindfulness meditation practice. Participants should come prepared to study, discuss, and experiment with meditative practice. No prior text study or meditation experience is necessary.
