WHAT TO DO WHEN LIFE IS CRUSHING YOU
David was trampled, fought against, and oppressed, and he didn't stay stuck there. He reframed his reality by faith, and Psalm 56 shows us the two things he did.
First, David put his faith in who God is. He says it in Psalm 56:3: "When I am afraid, I put my trust in You." Then he starts rehearsing who God has been. You're my faithful God. You created me. You've never failed me.
Look at how he describes Him in Psalm 56:8: "You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book." We only collect what's precious to us. None of this is escaping His attention.
Second, he put his faith in what God has said. Watch what the rest of Psalm 56:4 says: "In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust and am not afraid."
Faith isn't something we make up on our own. Don't be a spiritual weirdo. Real faith is always built on what God has said, and Hebrews 10:23 tells us why: "Hold fast to the hope we profess, because He who promised is faithful."
So when life is crushing you, what do you do? Put your faith in who God is, and put your faith in what He has said. His word has already settled your future. Your enemies can't cancel what the Lord has decreed.
